Right let's make this event the best demonstration of WON customers ever. 8)

To this end please tell me ANYTHING that you think would make the event better for you.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the cost at the track is less than any other track, so that should help offset any extra travelling costs.
Also remember that it's not so long ago that full blown Drag races were held there as part of a National Championship and plenty of your forerunners travelled from far and wide to race at York.

Here's the York Dragway web link, so please check it out and get back to me with your comments;

Hi Trev :)

I will try and make this but a little early for me to commit yet...business etc...

Although I did promise myself this year to take some time off to relax :)

All the best Brett :)

To cover the cost of carting nitrous to the Pod we had to charge a bit more for fills but as York is much closer we'll be doing it at our normal LOW price, so I hope that's adequate for you Yoof. ;)

So we're 2 definite with 1 possible and it's only been on the forum approx. 1/2 hour.

Well we just finished Kyle's engine (which was a pain in the arse compared with most) and we saved his lady in the region of £1,000 so I think you'd find it cheaper to have us do it than anyone else AND it would be done RIGHT!!!!
If you'd had us deal with it at the start, you'd have already enjoyed many more runs (and QUICK ones at that), which would have given you more enjoyment for your money and saved you a considerable amount as well.
If you did it yourself again and it doesn't go well, that's more money down the pan and at that rate you could have paid us twice over.

I don't give quotes because you never know what you'll encounter (especially after the issues you've had) but what I do PROMISE, is that we'll only do what is needed and what we do will be to the highest race standards.

We'll do it as quickly and efficiently as possible and we'd have it done in plenty of time for you to drop it back in the car and have some FUN for the rest of the season.
You also have my PROMISE that the engine will be perfect and ready to thrash to hell as soon as you turn the key.

Regards

There is just one proviso, you promise to junk the garbage nitrous kit and fit ours before the year end. ;)

BTW I'd even GUARANTEE your engine till the end of the year if you fitted a WON system.

ANYONE out there think they can find another company that would guarantee ANY n/a race engine, never mind a nitrous'd race engine.

BTW 2;

NOTHING you could say or do, would persuade me to guarantee your engine if you use the current nitrous system.

I dont see any reason why I cant make it. Up to Knaresborough on the Saturday. Down to the track on Sunday. Go home late Sunday or on Monday.
Stick me down for a place Trev.

Looks like we're going to have a cracking day in sunny York then. 8)

There'll be a trophy at this event and I may even put up a prize for something or other.

If you can make suggestions as to a fair way to decide who achieves something outstanding at this event, we'll award it for the most popular and/or we can run a handicapped knock as we did the year before last.

We usually get a decent turnout of local WON customers for all York events, so this one looks like being a bumper turnout.

He He!!
I'll be sorted for brunch if Ian turns up. I'll be claiming my coffee and burger Mr Oddie!
I reckon I should ge the long distance award for bringing the Southern Softie mobile along?

If it all comes together on the day, I reckon a good few of us will be bringing home PB's of all sorts.
Ian, Tony and me are sooo close to pipping our own goals with regard to ET's.
I'm not going to go mentalist though as I want to have some life left in the car for the Retro show in July.
Mind you, the Retro show is 5th July so that would give me a couple of weeks to rebuild if I Knacked it at York.
I so want to try a 200 shot on this new bigger engine, but I'm worried about melting the front two as usual. I think I'll concentrate on getting the tyres sorted for my new PB on the York event.

I'll save the 200 shot for my last run of the day at the Retro show I think.

I've already called the family to let them know they will have a visit on 14th June so I'm in.

It must be your manifold or the plate, because my old STOCK 3.5 had no such problems on 2 stages FIXED HIT of 350 hp.

I melted the pistons on the old Edelbrock 360 degree low profile manifold which is the stock item to fit a 4 barrel to an MGB without having to cut the bonnet.
I now use that 351 mani that is supposed to be a lot better. But I've only ever run a 150 shot on that so far on the new engine. Mind you, the new engine just eats the 150 shot like its not there. Maybe the extra 1100cc's on the new engine will take the extra 50 of gas with no problems?

As soon as I can find a Huffy manifold (missed on on fleabay while at the pod) I can fiit the Spider.

i will be there trev but don't know if the gas will be fitted or not by then. trying to do this one right for a change by making it stop and go round corners before i make it faster.

also don't forget that york are a lot stricter than pod. you have to wear a helmet what ever speed you do,and the car will be scrutineered before you can sign on. battery must be secure, throttle return spring, full set of wheel nuts.
the other thing that i have always argued with them over is that if the nitrous bottle is in the passenger compartment of the car(this includes the boot if it is a hatch or a saloon with fold down seats) there must be a pipe from the bov to outside. you can usually get away with it once so if you are coming from far away and not planning on returning for a while you should be ok.

i have argued in the past that it won't dump all its nitrous if it over pressurises cos it has a different valve on not a rupture disc, but they still won't have it.

maybe trev can clarify this before the event?

Funny you should say that Dangerous!!
I ran at North Weald last year for the first time and I got pulled on a missing wheel nut. My fault due to a hasty wheels change. And on my twin throttle return springs not being bent over to stop them coming apart. One nut and a pair of pliers later and that was sorted. Then I got to the front of the queue and they asked where my helmet was??? You can imagine my reply eh?
When I told him I didnt have one, he just said "wait there mate, I'll get you one" And he lent me one form a table at the start line.
I do have my own lid now though.

Look out York. The Southern Softie is coming :D
