First thing to try is deleting your cookies.

Worth bookmarking the URL for the forum directly rather than going through the noswizard link.

What i cant work out is that i use the forum from 3 different PC's, 2 in firefox and one in IE, and i havent had a problem on any of them.

This is the pain with the internet, different people get different results from exactly the same page.

Ive actually had the problem that you are describing on other forums that i use, and its just come and gone without the admin being able to effect it, it really is a strange one and i can only assume its down to cacheing somewhere along the way (so deleting offline content will probably help)

Ive got all the scripts set NOT to cache, but some browsers seem to ignore the fact!

Worth upgrading to a later version of IE/firefox if you are on an old one too.

As loopy says, i have been looking into it, but as ive been completely unable to reproduce the fault my end, it is very difficult to identify something that (from my PC'c viewpoint, im not calling you a liar!) doesnt exist.

One thing i found on other forums was that checking the "stay logged in" box seemed to help, so ive changed the default on here so that it will tick that box for you automatically.

Please let me know how you get on with logging in after you clear your cookies etc???

Initialy when you first swapped it over, i had to log in every visit to the site even though i'd ticked the "log me in automatically", now it works fine everytime...strange!.

The problem is certainly cookie related as I just had it, and it wouldnt allow me to log in, however deleting all cookies is not really an option, you need to close your browser, identify which cookie the new forums use then delete that one

In my case it was

C:\Documents and Settings\Richard Batty\Cookies\richard batty@www.forum.nitrous-advice[1].txt

you should have a similar one on your pc, substituting in your name and the [1] could be any number as once deleted mine has now created the cookie

richard batty@www.forum.nitrous-advice[2].txt

and I can now log in.

Hope this helps...

Could our IT tech type people please remember that dumb grease monkeys EAT cookies not delete them, usually after dunking them in coffee / tea as personally preffered.

I have a cat on my computer, but i don't want to disturb her to see if she's sitting on any cookies.
If she is then knowing her she's licked them out of pure spite anyway.

I'm not totally stupid BTW.
I know the mouse isn't an actual mouse ;)
(mine doesn't squeak for a start, and the tails too long for a mouse)

LOL @ Loopy!

In IE you got to:
Tools
Internet Options
Delete Cookies

Please be aware this will log you out of ALL sites though.

If you click
Tools
Internet Options
Settings
View Files

you can identify the cookie with "nitrous-advice" in the name and delete it manually, this will then not effect other sites.

Usually I go directly to the page http://forum.nitrous-advice.com/ and then hit the button that says "View posts since last visit". However since I get logged out each time, I have to log back in and it thinks that there are no new posts so I have to go through each forum and look at the dates to try to remember the last time I logged on.

I tried deleting the cookies too.

Bob/johny, sounds silly i know, but try to make sure you are always going to:
http://www.forum.nitrous-advice.com/

instead of:

http://forum.nitrous-advice.com/

As the two will have a different cookie, and the forum will always point you back at the www. version so that potentially could be whats losing it for you.

That seems to have done the trick! Thanks.
