Thought you might like to see what I got up to before Nitrous

Image

For anyone who isn't familiar with this vehicle, it's one of Ag's first creations, it has a centrally mounted super charged 650 cc Triumph engine running on a Nitro / Methanol mix. I'm on the drivers/riders side and my poor mate Keith Grooby was on the other side of the engine (you can just see his black & red boot at the back near the exh).
When I bought it the head was the other way round and it had a bubble front fairing. The fairing shown was my 2nd attempt after my first resulted in an earlier flying lesson.

It was something different and I'd love to know where it is now.

Regards

Does the compressor (Shorrocks?) blow through that single SU?

An UFO couldn´t come along stranger than these vehicles...
I´d very much appreceate some more commented photos from your past racing career - every here and then, whenever your time permits.

Siggi,

Glad you found it interesting.

Yes it was a strange vehicle and I bought just after I lost my leg on a bike and this was easier to ride having 3 wheels.

It was a suck through not blow through system.

I'll dig out a few more pics and give a few more details as and when I get time, thanks for asking.

Regards

Having 3 wheels it was classed as a sidecar outfit which needed a passenger to be stable and I think it was also to differentiate between a bike and a bike with a wheel on a stick (that cheats would do).

Another Jaymic design and development project was the "Sidewinder"; a leaning motorcycle sidecar that helped learner riders when the laws were changed in the UK to reduce the maximum capacity that a learner could ride to 125cc. This meant that learner riders with 250cc motorcycles would have to sell the 250cc bikes and buy a 125cc instead, unless their motorcycle was fitted with a sidecar. The patented Sidewinder would allow the motorcycle to lean into the corners and provide a normal ride feel.

Are ththe side winders still legal, they were one of the most dangerous add ons ever invented. A piece of plastic with a wheel on it bouncing around alog side you pushing you out of the corner when you turned left and nearly running pedestrians over with it when you got too close to the kerb. Those were the days

Johnny,

I never achieved much with it as I knew NOTHING about ANYTHING much back then and the blower blades kept reaming the case out and filling the combustion chambers.

I think I ran either low 13s or high 12s on it but 2 up that wasn't that bad. However in the builders hands it ran some record times and I'm trying to find out what they were, so I can see how little I knew back then.

Regards
