The MGB will be sporting 1970's Rostyle steel rims for most of this year. The Slot Mags are being given a rest

It started out as a question of "what am I going to do with these spare 14" slicks?"

I went to 15" rims a good while back as nobody really does a 14" slick anymore. To be honest I forgot that I had them in the roof of the garage DOH!!

And last seasons 15's are almost down on the wear limit. So I looked at the spare 5" rostyles and the 9" slicks.... Then I found a guy who would band the steel rims out to match the slicks

It was £200 cheaper to make the wheels fit the slicks than buying a new pair of slicks

So I now have much wider steelies for the rear. They are away now being blasted and powder coated by a mate for £25

Now I'm looking to find some skinny tyres for the front. If I can i may as well get the fronts cut down to 4" or even 3.5" if I can find the tyres. At the moment the web search is only bringing up motorcycle tyres?

I'm very pleased with the work Neil.

If I get a minute before the tyres are fitted I may stick the rims on my mates wheel balancer and add some weld beads to see if I can get the rims as close as poss to neutral balance. If I dont have time then it will have fat weights here and there I only need these to use one set of slicks anyway. Then its back to slot mags

I did some pre paint balancing and then got the tyres fitted. The worst one of the pair needed 70 grammes in the inner rim. I chucked some new chrome and paint on and they now look ready for fitting next weekend
