i looked into this for you i was slightly wrong but it can be done if you wanted to. anyway here you go.

Proper procedure for bring up the code on face lifted car is to
depress the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds of turning the key to
on postion. However this is for US models and most european specs
don't have this feature enabled. I believe only the 96 and up models
in certain country has this feature eabled.

If you don't see the "CHECK ENGINE" light on the instrument gauge
cluster when you turn the key then you don't have the feature. To
enable it, you have to remove the instrument cluster, install a new
light bulb and wire the connection between the light and the ECU. I
wronte an instruction long time ago at 164 Digest. Go search there.

as you can see it looks dead easy and im sorta jealous, mind u i dont want any errors

like he says the 164 digest(do a search in fact if you search 4 164`s its virtually only thing to come up) is where to go for any probs very helpful but they are yanks mostly so be careful, i was hated within a week of postin :O) guess they dont like english humour.

watch jason the most he think he has best 164 in world and lets be honest everyone knows........I DO!!! he just wishes his was a `leaf a few skirts a `leaf dont make he he (just like the old days)
dont mention nos either (not real power you know FLAME!!!!and thats tame!!!) and the one they really hate is suggesting removing oil breather assembly and just venting it jesus even the suggestion send em into turmoil. (in fact they will tell u it will blow ur car up just so they dont worry about breathing dirty air lol)

no offence to denny and u.s. users here as they are more open minded, to be here you must be etc :O)

im actually laughiong out load as i type this , the good old days!!!

the other place for help is the yahoo uk 164 register, mostly uk`ers and very helpful but the 164 digest is mammouth in comparison.
