As a few of you know, I've had my engine almost finished and in the garage for a few weeks now. I had to work 5 weeks without a break up to the Fast Show weekend at the Pod. Instead of getting my car finished I went to the Pod for the weekend to recharge my batteries and race the little yellow turbo for some track fun :)

I had planned to get the engine back in today and take my long suffering wife out on sunday as we havent seen much of each other due to our workloads. But work got in the way again and I had to go to London early this morning. Everyone in then house knew just how pissed off I was at having my garage weekend ruined. So I resigned myself to the fact that the car would just sit on the drive until I could get back to it. And today my spirits dropped to an all time low for the car. Before I got home I decided to close the garage door on the MG and look at it again when I could be arsed to...

I arrived home tonight to find my Son Jason and his mate Sam looking into the engine bay of the MG for some reason??

I got out of the truck and had a stretch as I was aching from head to toe from the 6am to 5pm shift plus the 5 hours driving today. As I walked down the drive I thought he had fixed the burnt wiring he started the other night. But as I got closer he shouted SURPRISE !!
And then I saw that he had fitted the engine and tranny back into the MG :)

Now all I have to do is bolt all the small stuff on during the evenings of next week to get her ready to test fire next weekend

He's a good Son for sure

Just thought I'd share my bit of joy with you guys !!

Pel

All the girls are out tonight. Wifey will be catching up on TV soaps so me and the Boy (I must stop calling him the Boy, He was 23 last month and is a bit of a bruiser, but he's still my little lad) will be finishing off the car so we can go and meet Austin for a natter at the Pod tomorrow. We will have the Garage DVD cinema system on with the 2010 Street Eliminator series playing + a few tinnies, piss taking and the usual chat about birds until the Chinese gets delivered right into the garage :)

No racing tomorrow. Just first start of the engine and some bedding in up and down the pits.

Not so much stirred them, as its with me all the time - lets just say there's no justice in life!!!!! :( :x

It's just lucky that I have a wonderful daughter who is extremely thoughtful and who makes up for my son in some respects.

Heres the result of Jasons efforts.. He is actually pleased as punch that I let him loose, lock stock and barrel on this build. The only bits I got involved with were glaze busting the rusty liners and showing him how to fettle the main bearing shells a bit.

Thanks .Yep a good day indeed, :D :D its allot easier to concentrate on tuning when you can just run when your ready ,instead of thinking how long the que is , your engine run-in enough yet ?

Hell yes!!

I ran that engine again for 25 mins on Sunday so its all bedded in now...

I dropped the rad and drained the water so the ceramic block sealer can dry out.

I hope to have the 4/71 blower kit next week. That gives me a few days to get it fitted and run up. Then Bank holiday Monday 1st May to drive it on my mates private road so i know it will run for our weekend gig on 14/15 May when I will be doing gentle shakedown passes at the Pod...

:)

The blower wont be here until the 6th Now :(

But I think that will be ok. I decided to treat Jason to a nice surprise today by bagging him a tunnel cover from a mates old Drag car. It was also covering a th350 in his MG Magnette 1950's model. So its almost spot on with just a few bits needing filling in. This is a job he wasnt looking forward to I've saved him the hassle. He came in from work and I told him to go and look in his car. He was slightly pleased to say the least :)
