Austin, unless its an optical illusion, your truck seems to go flat mid strip and then take off again, does it feel that way and if so any idea why??

Looked almost like you missed a gear!!!

Took another look and I think I see a puff of black smoke, so maybe you did fluff a gear shift a little?

Trev ,Its the 2nd to 3rd gear change, the ECU cuts fuel to reduce torque on the trans while changing gear , I am slowly working on the shift side of the program but its all new to me (electronic shift control) . just need track time to work my way through it.
So yes you are hearing a flat spot but it really takesoff after ,next time out i will make it shift at lower rpm with the torque converter un-locked simlar to the 1st to 2nd shift.

No change mate, even removed the Nitrous filters. Gonna start to investigate the lines from the bottle to see if Minispeed pinched them anywhere

You did well despite the bloody carbs playing up again. 0.7 is a great improvment Dave..

Are the carbs shagged?? I know the spindle seals and bushes were cream crackered last time out.. If you do decide to chuck them out give me first refusal as I may be able to make one good 'un for Jasons budget V8 build.

If the car would stop spitting and just pull clean its would pop straight into the 11's before you even think about tweaking the tune up a little eh? Then its 10's and beyond :)

Great weekend, i did 15 runs over the 2 days without any problems at all and knocked a few more 100's off my pb which is now 11.81@116.1

Shame a few of our gang had some problems :(

Some great videos been posted up too

Throttle bodies/injection is next on the cards for the kitten which will then give me the option of changing the nitrous set-up to a better arrangment.

Ian

I pumped up the cooling system this evening, and aside from some very small leaks in the pipes the pressure went down really slowly. I guess I should try it hot and see if the heat is opening up a crack? Or maybe it is as you said Perry and I just need a bigger/proper expansion tank. I will get my mate at the garage across the road to sniff my water and see if he can detect any hydrocarbons! I did note that when I got to 30psi the water pump started dribbling, oooops!

I reckon you just need an expansion tank Dave. Once your system is full with cold water it has nowhere to expand into when it heats up??

I think I've sussed it Viv??? You need to lend Richard those shoes you were wearing at the weekend. That way he will be able to get accelerator right to the floor

It was good to catch up again.

Completely gutted I couldn't make it and even more so from seeing the videos :( I spent the day in bed exhausted from working the Saturday where pretty much everything that could go wrong, did. Made the job take twice as long as we'd planned and budgeted for :tard:

Did the pit passes cost you anything Perry? If so, let me know how much and I'll send the cash over to you.

Glad you all had a good time though

Front two pistons I believe. Bloody shame !!
The car looked so so strong at the start of the pass... Hopefully no bore damage Ron.. We are all rooting for you mate. The Cortina has a lot more to give yet I'm sure.

The woes of Sunday

If you look closely you can see that the only damage is to the front 2 cylinders

Why only the front 2? Any signs on the others? Could the front 2 be leaning out?

Seems to me you are accelerating too fast and pushing the fuel supply to the rear cylinders.
Drive slower and it will be fine

Seriously tho i hope you sort it soon. Thats a darn shame :tard:

There's NO MISTAKING the cause of that damage Ron, THAT'S SERIOUS DETONATION and although mixture 'can' contribute to such a failure, I doubt that's the cause in this case.
What do ALL the plugs look like, especially the 2 from those cylinders, are the ground straps still there?

I think Rons plugs were clean at the front and richer to the rear cylinders.

I'm sure he may be able to give us some pics to see soon.

I hope the damage isnt too bad Ron..

Keep us posted mate :)
