I'm going to this as its the very last RWYB of 2010.

My old V8 held together at the last meeting so i'm hoping this day out might just be the day I get back onto my previous form. I already added 1mph onto my PB even though I ran 0.3 slower due to the cam timing change. And I realised that my mental maths let me down when I set Fred up last time out. I lost 0.3 in the 60 foot time as I normally run 120hp off the line. But I only had 96hp last time out DOH!!

So I'm gonna up that start power to where it should be and add some more gas on top as well. I have a cunning plan :) Which may actually see just how much abuse this damaged block can take before letting go once and for all :beatstick:

Its the end of the season and the spare block is ready to be rebuilt so, what the heck eh ??

Who knows mate?
I've had enough practice at converting engine parts into heat and light at the flick of a switch this year. I've got 2 bottles on board now and a bag full of head gaskets.. And I aint afraid to use them :omgrofl:

I just got a call from my Son in the UK to tell me the car is ready to rock. I'm still in Greece!
I now have a twin bottle setup and a 2 stage system fitted and tested. 275hp first stage on a progressive and a second stage of 150hp also on a progessive. All made up from stuff I have collected over the last few years.

So it looks like I'll be back in the uk on friday to do some flow testing and get her on the trailer ready for Sundays record attempt. I've got nowt to lose. The block is shagged, the bores have 110,000 miles on them and have all been damaged over the last 2 seasons with stuff melting etc.. The old 4.6 rover engine can only just make 202hp on the dyno now on the carb. She is a bit of an old smoker and she beathes quite heavy, but she dont blow any blue out the side pipes yet :) Apart from initial startup when the oil that has seeped past the valve guides has been burnt :D

Even though she is a bit of a dog. she seems to come on song when I turn that ign dial back a few degree's and bung a big shot of gas in there

Hi mate, you always seem to do your best times when I'm NOT there and cause the most damage when I AM there.
So as a favour to you, I wish you the very best for next weekend, and look forward to reading the results on the forum, or call me if you do something really spectacular

I really must get to Santa Pod one day :beatstick: Trouble is it's a rather long journey at a little over 110 miles and the M25 can be a complete nightmare....Also already got plan for this Sunday so good luck and look forward to reading about what happens when you get back

Ha Ha!!
Cheers Paul..
She is now flow tested and all loaded on the trailer ready to go in the morning. Track conditions today have been good. Weather forecast says similar to today. Fairly bright and dry with a slight wind estimated at 8mph.

I'll be signed on as soon as they open and we will warm the bottles the quick way so we can get an early pass in on the good surface from today. I know what will happen up to the 1/8th mile marker. But just past this point I havent got a clue. I'm charging the video cam so my Son can record from the startline. I'm hoping to see a plume of black smoke from each sidepipe as I activate the second stage. This should clear up a bit over the next 1.5 seconds. And hopefully I'll make it to the finish line if I get the ign retard right and nothing fails

Cheers Rich!!
You should have been watching the Santapod webcam for the last hour of the Flame and Thunder show. I got 3 shout outs from Paul Venners about the MGB's attendance at the RWYB tomorrow. I know Paul so he passed on some info to the crowd to look out for the old girl tomorrow as she should put on quite a show :D :D

He likes the B as she is still a full bodied car that has not been stripped out and still runs all stock steering, suspension and rear end. !!
He still cant believe just how quick she has been this last 12 months, even with a few setbacks this year. He's a classic car fan and a petrol head to boot...

I just spoke to Austin and he will be down early with the truck to see if he can beat his 11.7. I'll have Tricky riding shotgun in the truck as he will be Pit Bitch for the day along with Jason.
I think Stevie Skoda may pop in for a cuppa in the morning as well.

Should be a good day out whatever happens....

I'm so pissed off right now...

They opened the track and cars got running as we were warming the bottles. My Son told me that she was ready to rock. I was getting into the MG when I decided it was a good time (after the brekky in the cafe) to go and lose some ballast. I got chatting to mate on the way back which delayed me about 15 mins. I drove the car to the queue which was quite short. I was about 20 cars back from the front. Then a VW Beetle drove through and chucked oil out all over the track. While we waited about 30 mins for the clean up, they got it sorted and prepared to open the track. Then it started to spit with rain and never let up. They called it a rain off at 1.30pm. This has really screwed all my winter plans as I needed to know just how she would perform on the new nitrous setup. Now I've got to wait until January to start all over again..

I'm going to this thing in Devon in Novemebr on the off chance that it might be dry. I need just 2 passes to see how she will perform before I can make any more plans.

At least I got to meet up with the guys again and have a good natter....

Hi PEL :)

If you are going to run at Smeatharpe, the track is an old WW11 runway and made out of sectionalized concrete and is EXTREMELY hard with no traction and slightly downhill as well lol...

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)
