Cracking vids Derek!!

The one of mine has been most useful to me. It shows that the cam timing retard has given me longer legs. I'm normally in 3rd well before the 1/8th marker. I see from the vid that I upshifted just after the 1/8th and still ran 120mph with 100hp less gas than ususal. I normally launch with 125hp of gas and bring the other 125hp in over 1.6 - 1.7 seconds so I'm at full power for 2nd gear which will give me a 60 foot of 1.5 -1.6 seconds. That run was 75hp off the line with another 75hp coming in over 1.6 seconds. The 60 foot on that run was 1.8 seconds with 50hp less gas!!. I was shifting at 5700 rpm instead of the usual 4700 rpm as the timing mod has moved my power further up the rpm range. I have no dnyo figures to show peak torque, I was using my backside to tell me when to shift. That run was only 6mph short of my PB but nearly 1 second slower ???
Watching that has given me a spurt of adrenaline to get it rebuilt for the next RWYB I can do this year

I've just got the heads off and I can see that the DIY repair to the block held up just fine. But the pressure from no8 cylinder found its way under the copper gasket and the block to get into the water system. When I used the previous sealant it got between the gasket and the head. So I guess I have a flatness issue in this area. I aint taking the block out so I'm having both heads skimmed next week so I can get it back together asap. Then I'll be out next time starting off with a 200 shot. And if it holds out for one pass I'll go back to the 250 shot I wanted to run this weekend :)

Looking forward to our next meeting guys :D :D

Richard!!!
You Sod.... You got a lift in the Silver Dream Racer while I was away building a new diff ??
Why doesnt your mate ask me along for ballast? I'm heavier than you I think!! That picture has made me smile... At least now you Noble mate will be saying "You have a lot to answer for Richard"..... That sort of takes the heat from Viv away from me now

Sharpy!
I saw the 2 Minis in the Pits... I'm bummed out that I was away when you came over for a chat mate. The toilet block in the pits to my front door is 30.4 miles (how anal is that). Thats why I can go home and build new stuff and be back on track in a few hours.

I've just sent a pm to my head gasket guy for another set of copper gaskets. Its a long story, but.... The new R&D gaskets were accidentally run though a linisher before they got sent out. Thats why my copper gaskets are not smooth and flat. They have a brushed finish with the grain running along the length of the gasket to nicley join up all the cyilnders and the waterways??? That may be part of my problem. I dont need record sized grooves in my gaskets...

I cant complain. The R&D gaskets are free so far???

Pel

I'm almost too embarrassed to say, but the 840 is running again with its new crank sensor
Its ONLY trips out (from now on) will be to the car wash.
(Thats what I told it, so it behaves) :omgrofl:

If it wasn't for Bad Luck, poor old Rich wouldnt have any at all

At least Viv gave me a kiss and a hug when she met me on Saturday. I guess that means I wont hear the old "You have a lot to answer for Perry" anymore

Chin up Rich... That 12 is on the cards mate. And I'm damned if I'm going to let that 9 second pass drop now. I just know its in there somewhere. I have a bit more determination now as I have a spare block for next year. :D :D

Thanks for the encouragement Pel. I've been blasting round Guildford with NOS on and off all afternoon and evening.
It sounds absolutely stunning, why won't it do it for the track?

I'll be taking it to the CAR WASH on 31st October :omgrofl:

You should have come to find us mate. We had spare bottles we could have lent you or topped you up from. I had 2 full bottles spare on Saturday as I only used a few pounds from the full one in the car.
