Well.........a mixed bag of results! I have never seen The Pod as quiet as it was today, My first run was at 9:38am and my last at 10:38am and I did a total of 10 runs and 2 jet size changes!

First of all a few shots from Ian at Blackett Photography:

All you need to know about the traction issues I had!
Image

I had no one to race, it really was that quiet!
Image

my fave shot
Image

As mentioned above I had some traction issues! I was a bit disappointed as I wasn't even attempting hard launches or even using the nitrous and all I got was spin all the way through 1st gear!

I did 2 runs without nitrous, the fastest of which was 16.4738 @ 81.68mph and a 60ft of 2.3621 :(
60ft 2.3621
330ft 6.7745
1/8 ET 10.5452
1/8mph 64.25
1000ft ET 13.7451
1000ftmph 75.92
1/4 ET 16.4378
1/4mph 81.68

I then moved to 40BHP jets.............traction was still bad, I would expect 1.8 60 foot times :(

60ft 2.4452
330ft 6.5986
1/8 ET 10.0066
1/8mph 71.92
1000ft ET 12.9036
1000ftmph 83.03
1/4 ET 15.3971
1/4mph 90.16

Time to go to 70BHP jets...........traction still pants, and now my poor nitrous system added to the issues!

60ft 2.4869
330ft 6.6187
1/8 ET 10.0177
1/8mph 72.38
1000ft ET 12.8658
1000ftmph 84.90
1/4 ET 15.3037
1/4mph 92.18

Sod it, lets put in the 100BHP jets......traction a bit better, and my nitrous system issues are highlighted further!

60ft 2.2729
330ft 6.2669
1/8 ET 9.5779
1/8mph 74.43
1000ft ET 12.4719
1000ftmph 85.71
1/4 ET 14.9552
1/4mph 89.60

Overall I am happy with the final time of 14.9 as it is something to build on. But I am majorly disappointed that upping from 40BHP jets to 100BHP jets had precious little effect :(

I suspect that the bottle pressure was dropping drastically throught the run and I was getting less and less nitrous and runing rich.......time for WoN?

Dave!!
I tried and tried to reply to this over the weekend. But the G3 signal in Tibshelf is shit. Been away for a 3 day party weekend with the family.
The day was good for you mate. Sounds like the Pod was empty too??

Can you get your fat ass down for the Retro next Sunday??
Or maybe hook up with a few of us on Sept 18th for RWYB??

We need more WON fatboys on site as I'm getting lonely being the only one. Apart from Rapid Blue and BMW Richard that is :omgrofl:

If the weather holds out its gonna be a good day I reckon :)

Empty is an understatement! 10 runs in an hour is just silly!

I have a Christening on Sunday so cant make it :(

I now have a job looking for some more suitable meats for the back

So far looks like 225/50 14 Toyo R888s will do the job :)

You think that was empty??
Me and the boys hit the first Saturday night special weekend and there was only 50 racers on site all weekend. I thought as the Saturday was cup final day that we would see guys turning up for the cheap £10 session from 4-9pm. But only about 4 guys turned up??
On the Saturday one guy turned up at 4.30pm and did 29 runs by 7pm. It was his 30th run at 7.15pm that saw him drop his gearbox and give us a 2 hour oil down stoppage until 9pm when the pod let all the folks in the fire up lane run once more. I think my last run of the day was 9.25pm.

I was parked right up by the new workshops past the finish line. The next car in the pits was my mate Nige who was by the toilet block. There were only 2 cars between the cafe and the workshops... Sam AX and his crew were by the grandstand. And that was about it really... I hope its that empty in September :)

There were maybe 10 cars and 10 bikes running while I was there! As I was on my own it got very boring very quickly! Had I had my filling bottle there it may have been different!

Shame you left so early - could have met up with Rob.

Must have passed him on his way in as you left! (silver sooty Skoda)

I was there the day after, on Sunday, and did 8 runs in 1 hour then gave up due to rising heat and NOS running out.... Got a 13.7 in the bag though.

Just seen this. Unfortunately "coming over" is not quite how it works with me. Living in Devon means it is a 500 odd mile round trip, so I don't go very often. I went this time due to weather being reasonable (I would have stayed home had forecast been bad) and it was a VW biased show too.

Wow - what a day!

The car made the 160 mile round trip and is still running :) I beat last weeks time :) I learnt how to do a proper burnout :)

Here is some super slow motion footage of my newly found skill :) Again thanks to Ian from Blackett Photography!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwKrnMfovu8

and here is the same burnout from the BDA helmet cam!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcNG3lg7soY

and now the stats

60ft 2.2084
330ft 6.1275
1/8 ET 9.4046
1/8mph 75.32
1000ft ET 12.2640
1000ftmph 87.19
1/4 ET 14.6828
1/4mph 93.08

There is more to come when I tune the nitrous properly! (Or swap to WON  )
