What a great weekend of racing / testing eh guys??
Stevie!
I think you need to buy a car transporter dude! That way you can bring loads of Skoda's to trash on uber boost + nitrous
Austin!
Your help this weekend was invaluable mate. Especially the use of your bore scope. I've just realised that the dent in the top of my no1 piston looks like the wedding ring I lost during the engine rebuild
I'm happy that the Holley 60DP is now working as best as it can on my little engine.
We did shed loads more testing on Sunday. I have all the data logged. (thats written on a piece of paper, and not on a computer by the way)
After you went, Me and Jason had a party in the pits. The 3 (skoda) Musketeeers were there. Thats Steve, Rob and "steve U".
Then The pod photographers (Ian and Paula) rocked up around midnight for BBQ and Beers.
I've never seen Santapod so empty??
I got on site at 9am to find only 20 cars on site. I think I was the highest sign on number at 150 by 7pm on the Saturday?
I thought Sunday would be busy. But it wasnt. One of Sam AX's mates trashed his tranny and dumped his load of gearbox oil on track late this afternoon. Even after an hours or so clean up. The queue was only only about 10 pairs behind the Zebra crossing
It was just the best weekend for tuning and test runs. I've got some great pics and vids to post up as soon as I can figure out why my Q time player has stopped working??
I spent all day Saturday (11 hours) and 7 hours on Sunday getting my Holley carb set up. I used 9 gallons of petrol just on nasp runs. And another 3 gallons of petrol and 15lbs of nitrous on static testing with only 6 nitrous passes all weekend
I now have great data on testing the Spider as well as some other problems I need to iron out on the dyno next month. Last year I PB'd at 10.6. This weekend I made 11.4 with 100hp less gas??
I helped Sam out with some static and flow testing. I think he PB'd on the setting I left him with? Sam is a really nice bloke as well!
I was jumping up and down as Sams little Citroen AX came in about a car length behind a Big Mustang
I gave Sam a few idea's about shift points etc. His last run was a real hard pass. He crossed the line and coasted toe the exit gate. He used hardly any pedal on the way back so we could check his plugs. But halfway down the return lane his engine went CLUNK!
He coasted back in and we pushed him to my trailer. We found that his cam belt tensioner pulley had come adrift? The bolt had sheared and the cam belt had popped off?
Sam was last seen being towed out of the pits by a mate of his. Hopefully the engine wont be too badly damaged. Fingers crossed !!
Good luck Sam!!
I hope we will meet again later this year dude!!
