I am back

So it has been a long time since I have been active, what has been going on in BDA land?

Well I have a couple more projects on the go......suprise!

The first of these is an MX5 that I picked up for £250. It was accident damaged, and the plan originally was to break it for parts, sell the majority off and keep the others for another project. However, my father in law convinced me to fix it......

I had to replace the drivers door and front wing (£60) and apply about £20 worth of filler to the rear quarter.......most of which ended up back on my drive as dust!

It was MoTd until April, a copy of which I got from my local tester. The V5 arrived from Swansea. Insurance was purchased and then it was off to the post office for tax. So it is now back on the road

It wasn't long before I thought it needed a bit of BDA flair......

So out with the vinyl and soon the bonnet, windscreen surround and boot were decorated.......

A month or so passed, and it was clear a chome and pink bonnet was attracting attention, not content I decided it was time to complete the makeover.........

Out with the matt black paint and things are starting to look much better!

The recent snow has not discouraged me at all and I continue with the transformation! Only a few panels left now!

You may also have spotted some rear wheel arch extensions

Anyway, once finished I think there will be some baseline runs to see how it goes.........

I am then planning on adding an electric turbocharger! I have a turbo ready for use and a 10bhp electric motor to drive it (NOT A POS PC FAN!). Should hit 60000rpm and hoping for 0.5bar boost. Why do this and not just fit nitrous? Because I can! I like to be different ;) and anyway who says I cant do both!!!!

Watch this space!

No pics yet Trev as they are just a bunch of parts!

I did think of a conventional turbo setup..........but there was too much pipework fabrication to do. I then thought of a BMW Mini suprcharger that can be had cheaply.......too much mechanical fabrication to do. So I settled on the idea of an electric turbo. This will be activated pretty much as a nitrous system is used, that is it wont always be on but the driver can choose when to use it. So pootling to work and back it is normally aspirated and at the strip it is forced induction.

Obviously an extra injector and controller will be required to keep the fuel in check, I did think that a Revo would do the job nicely, but as this is just a toy I cant really justify the expense. Instead I have bought some Impreza injectors for a couple of quid each! Now to figure a cheap way to control them.......An MF2 would be nice, but £200 kinda sits on the expensive side!

Simoniz 500ml Matt Black rattle cans! So far about 14 used at a cost of ~£25 (Ebay)

The pink is Plasticote Flourescent stuff from B&Q

The yellow is some pinstripe of Ebay

I am undecided about decoration for the sides..........

You wouldn't believe I dont drink or participate in mind altering substances......all this has come from a sober mind!
