More weight has gone!!

Plastic dash cover 4.4kg

total 127.8kg

miscellaneous brackets screws and switches 4.1kg

total 131.9kg

carpets 4kg

total 135.9kg

heater blower motor 2.1kg

total 138kg

A/C evaporator 2.8kg

total 140.8kg

heater matrix and airbox 3.1kg

total 143.9kg

I have looped back the heater pipe from the rear of the cylinder heat to the outlet just below the exhaust manifold - simples!

I am now going to make it my target to get to 150kg. I am starting to get to the point that the only way to remove weight is with a saw or a deep wallet (carbon bonnet/boot) those last 6kg may not be easy!

The bumper bars are plastic and not worth the hassle! Also only the drivers door has a doorbar as it is from a later car

I had considered removing the rad and fans as well and I have a filler neck from a bike that could replace it! But I am teetering on extreme now!

Saturday Night Special, Santa Pod, 10th July

I'll be there all day and it would be great to see some others there (so I can store my fuel in their car ;) )

I am looking for 14s, but I will start with small jets and work up to 100hp.

Should be an interesting day

My insurance had a bit of a fit when I called them, so i have had to switch companies, and they have in  isted that I install an extinguisher!

Hi Dave, have you declared the NOS and to who?
As yet Adrian Flux still holds the monopoly on NOS insurance (to my knowledge).
I'm working the 10-11 July and cannot get out of it, that was the same date as meef in Portsmouth, which is just down the road to me - GUTTED

Ah that would be like an extinguisher in a powerboat -

Dont bother JUST GET OUT!

Mind you on the extinguisher note - I have a few friends that use hand controls and find getting in and out a bit difficult - especially if the power is off so the lift dont work. The in-sewer-ants companies in the allegedly considerable experience have decided that they have to fit plumbed in auto fire extinguishers to their vehicles - diesel vehicles by the way! :wtf??: As these kits are F1 prices then OUCH and then the insewerants premium goes up as they have one fitted so must be a risk  :wtf??:

Hangonaminit! Fit kit they say then add MORE premium coz its fitted :beatstick:

The NOS is not declared as it is for track use only :)

Everything else is and it is £235 for the year with flux.....not at all bad! It was £180 as standard!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (hopefully it isn't the case with your policy) but it's not the use you have to declare, it's the install. At least, that's what I was told recently as I enquired about LPG. I don't agree with that policy at all but it could mean, should the worst happen, your insurers might void your policy because of a modification not declared.

I suspect they were just making things up on the spot but the consequences are so far-reaching, it's imperative you read the small print, just to be sure.

What's worse, if you use an online quote and tick "Modified", within the list of choices is Stickers and Decals! This infers just adding a sticker (child on board for instance) is seen as a modification that should be declared. WTF?!!?

That'll be ok then 8) but I did ask my insurers about LPG; what if I installed a part at a time, they said any part will count as a modification.

I'm sure they can just make it up as they go...

Anyway, sorry to interject and hope you have a great time racing. If you can post some vid's as well, I'd appreciate it.

Nitrous is no longer required on the MX5......I have sold the engine, clutch and gearbox and in their place sits an electric motor! Today was the first turn of the wheels after having a custom propshaft made up..........
