These cars apparently came from the factory with Eastern European ruggedness built in. Simple cars just soldier on forever it seems. The lesser parts you have, the better it is.
Reminds me of me old Citroën BX, some 27 odd years ago purchased for a dime. It had 4 different size bald tyres, no ignition key, starting had to be done with a screwdriver, I never looked under the bonnet, so no idea what engine it had or what mileage it had seen as all dashboard functions had ceased, yet that thing was indestructible, it just kept on running for years untill I gave it away to someone else.
