Is there going to be a return to York for the Southern softies to meet the Rock hard Northeners this year??
Can Trev tell us if he is organising another one??

I really enjoyed the last one. And I wouldnt mind attending a weekend event and camping over. But it has to be warm weekend please. Could we look at sometime in August maybe??

Anyone fancy a meeting at the WON Holy Grail Dragstrip??
Will Trev bring more Trophies??

Note to other Southern (Santapod) Softies like me:

The track is ok.
The burnout pads are the best I've ever seen.
The atmosphere is really nice and friendly.
The exit is on the RIGHT !!
The exit is just a rough farm track that goes on for ages before you get back to the pits.
You will find no speeding in the pits. Because the pot holes are too big :)
Dont drive your bike down the path by the grass banking :)
Dont race a Bird who drives an M3
Where has Scotty got to ???

I'd love to arrange another event but there is a HELL OF A LOT going on right now, that could cause some major changes in the near future and at very least if business continues as it's started this year, I'll be flat out FOREVER!!!!
Consequently, either way, I very much doubt I'll have time and may not even be in the country for much of this year.

two options really if trev isn't able to "host" an event at york.

1 - we all pick a date when everyone can get there, run in our respective classes and have a natter in between runs.obviously there would be no guarantees that we would run against each other.

2 - we all pick a date and book our own"class" . i think 5 or more runners would do it, it doesn't cost anything extra and you would be guaranteed to run against each other. i am not sure if you can run in the other classes as well.

the first date is easter and the rest of the dates are posted up shortly before this event.
there is a bar there and camping at every event. i am sure there are a few travelodges etc not to far away either.

we would still be running along side the others mate. so would have to be at one of the regular events which are sundays and bank holiday mondays.

Yorks a long way from being the perfect venue, but and it's a big BUT, compared with Santa Pod you get by far the best value for money on the track. It's not unusual at York to get between 12 and 16 runs in on a rwyb day

Santa pod is the best venue overall and best facilities, but it does get a bit tedious pushing the car down the lanes for a few hours for each run :beatstick: even longer if someones dropped something on the track

I'm up for york as long as the dates ok with my schedules/work

What's wrong with shakey?

It's central, once the season's underway there's normally a meet every other week,(only 2 "race"meets.) and at least you can watch the track while you're pushing your car down.

Saturday's are much quieter than sundays,,twice last may we managed 20+runs on a sat.

There is loads of space in the pits and there is always a bar(late)

Shakeys 200miles away from me,

Pods 206miles away from me,

Yorks 67miles away from me....

I vote York even tho they could have faked moon landings on the return/entrance road :P

As I mentioned before Nige!
I have been told that only road legal cars can run at Shakey??
If I get confirmation that I can bring my B to shakey and race it, then I'll do so :)

I would like to race at Shakey because over the next few years (before I get too old and start pissing my pants) I would like to race my MGB at all the venues.
I've done York, the Pod and North Weald. I would like to do Shakey and that place near Exeter where the Street Wars thing goes on. And any other places I can find in the UK where Drag Racing happens. As long as A. Its not too cold or B. Its not too far norf of Watford and C. They sell candy floss :D :D

Does anyone have a list of places where Drag Racing happens in the UK other than the above? I'm sure there must be a few venues that are kept quiet :)

I'm all up for a Shakey weekend if we can rock up together and have a few beers around the camp fire.

Elvington which is 5-10miles from York dragway has drag racing run by Straightliners but there's not many RWYB events for cars per year now :(

I'd love to know why shakey keep saying road legal to everyone.

I have run a non road legal bike there, they also say full leathers for bikers(as for racing) but decided they couldn't enforce it as they'd never get new riders.

You have to produce your licence to sign on and that's it.

Check out the photography links from shakey's site, you'll see all sorts of cars and bikes that have never been near a road.Last year there was a group of grass track cars running one ended up ontop of the armco. They definitely weren't road legal.

there is crail up in scotland.

Did wonder about going.

I want to try and do ALL the tracks in the UK but that will take some time (and cash)

We need to put a normal diff in the MGB and take it to the ring!

I race at York all the time and love it.
I organised a TVR class last Easter but it was way too busy.
This year i am organising it for August 7th or 8th which clashes with 'ten of the best' at Elvington.
This should mean that a lot of the RWYB crowd will be absent giving much more sunny track time for the rest of us.
This is also the best meeting on the York calendar with good spectating to be had as well as racing.
Camping and partying is all part of the fun too.
Im sure it wont be too cold for you southerners ;)

Why not come along and play then?

the marshalls at the ring would have a field day with your mgb mate. they are clamping down like mad on modifications that are not tuv approved. plus you would run out of gears on every single straight. mine weighs 1400-1500kgs,has 300hp and hit 130+ in a few places. i am sure yours would be a fair bit quicker on the straight bits.
