The 'expensive' engine is on hold at the moment.

I need to get on the dragstrip asap before i go crazy so i aquired this

Image

Its a 4.6 but built with 4 ltr pistons and is suspected to be a mid 10:1 CR.
Its got a fresh Typhoon cam and '500' big valve heads.

I will only be using up to a 100 shot for the time being..... honest.

Just need to bolt, wire, plumb and check the tune.

Its a possibility Pel.
I will need to get the fuelling retuned. i dont think i can squeeze the MS in in time, never mind the mapping.

It would be good to do a day at the pod ahead of York at the end of the month.

You should be fine mate!!
It will be good to meet again. If you decide to get here on track i might do a side by side with the pasta burner. I'm on site that day with the Universal film studios folk doing more filming for the uk release of Fast 5...

We have to rag our cars around barrels on the drift arena or something?

I just know its called a Barrel racing event and I get in free for the day ;)

Just a little update.
I had the megasquirt fitted and mapped to a very healthy 308 bhp with a nice fat torque curve.

At York the car ran a best of 12.41 @ 111 NA which is a PB of 0.6 seconds and 4 mph
I will be trying a little nitrous for the first time on this engine at Kirkbride on the 24th.

Del!
12.4 @ 111mph n/a is great on a 4.6 in the high state of tune yours is. :D
My old smoker 4.6 with low comp (9:1) and a carb runs 13 seconds n/a with only 202hp on the dyno.

I dont see why you shouldnt be in the 10's with nitrous mate. Assuming you can change gear fast enough that is :)

Good luck mate! We are behind you all the way....

regards
Pel

Well I dont have halfshaft snapping slicks like you Perry but I do think I can be running 1.7's to 60 foot soon enough.

How are my gearchanges?.....

Pretty quick shifitng Del !!

But you cant beat an auto with manual shift to take a good chunk off your ET. I know the auto has reduced my ET's by 0.5 just down to fast shifting.

My 60 foots are down to 1.4 now :)

And here she is in slo mo with my Son driving so I could observe the launch !!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjZz6eszNvs&NR=1

And an early moring test run from way back in 2009 before the blower was fitted. This gives you an idea of how quick the gear shifts are with my auto box if you listen to the engine. No need to back off the pedal. I just keep my foot in and bang the shifter. The TH350 and ratchet shifter was one of my best upgrades to the MGB :)
She was suffering with severe axle tramp in those days.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH2vsboO ... ature=fvwp

And this was the month after the previous vid when we saw what was happening outside the car on those wild launches which led me to make up the slapper bars. My rear axle was all over the place :)

Everytime i watch that first vid of yours pel (sooo powerful yet smooth), i realise how much time is lost with a manual box, even with nitrous on mine, a bmw 335 auto would have me all day long :beatstick:

I dont think an auto would give me 0.5 in my car, maybe a couple of tenths.
I cant go too far down the drag route as i want my car to remain capable of all it can do.

ie be perfectly driveable on the road, return 28 mpg when driven 'normally' and put in good lap times at circuits when the mood takes me.
I believe i can achieve a 10.99 @ 129 on a 200 shot with no major compromises.

Will do Trev
I will be using a little gas at Kirkbrode this Saturday so should be ready to up the jets enough to run mid to low 11's at Shakey I think.

Bill, come say hi and let me know how you are getting on with your nitrous. I will have spares and jets if you need them. Maybe even spare gas.

Pel, will have to have a 'grudge' match sometime but we have to agree on a level field.
You aint allowed to use your gas.
