It's cold, dark and raining outside. The MG is still on the trailer because the 2 car garage is chock full of crap. But I'm still tinkering.

For 2010 I want to hit a new PB as most uf us do. So what are you doing in the garage from now until Feb 2010 ???

I've fitted my Spider plate and my new carb.
I think my gearbox is stuck in 1st gear. So I've bought another TH350 with uprated gears and a transbrake kit. But I wont fit it until I've properly tested my old gearbox.

If I have to fit the new gearbox I'm going to either not use the transbrake for a good while, or be very gentle with it to start off with as I know it will trash my rear end quite quickly !!

I've run 10.66 with the crossfire plate with a 240 shot. The Spider plate and my new lines will give me a full 300 shot. So I'm hoping for sub 10.5 early in 2010.

What problems have you lot encountered at the end of 2009 that need to be sorted for 2010's Drag Racing season??

Perry

Well - Set up the furby over the winter.

Possibly (cashflow allowing) rebuild the rapid engine and strengthen the gearbox. Also fit the roll cage.

Hi All :)

My plans for the car for the winter...

1, A few Revos and hopefully a set of X10`s, (probably have to go braided pipe as well :( ) which will mean a night or two in Doncaster :) :)

2, Probably change my Clifford alarm system for the new 650 system, nothing wrong with old system but new one has "Intellistart" which is basically remote starting, as then I can let the Porsche warm up from the house before I get in it lol....I cannot stand the cold :)

3, Try and figure out a way to stop the rain hitting my rear central camera.....1 drop of rain and I cannot see anything at the moment :(

And anything else I can think of as long as it doesn't put the car off the road (daily driver)

All the best Brett :)

Got to sort electrics for shifter , kill ect and probley rewire bike nitrous side for 5th time no i know its not my fault

Got to find out why my Nitrous bottle Gauge for No reason got stuck on 0 psi even when bottle was full

Sort out plunger on fule pulsiod and try and reset my sprv as i had to wind it in to stop it emptying bottle

try and sort out why one of me bike bottle vavles is also fucked

Investigate why my hardley use TPS box has had a nut do

FIND MY 200 nitrous jet that iv put down some where :(

And replace all bottle lines and fitting to either 5mm or 3am so i only have one set of spaners and spares needed

OR Just give up and buy a BUSA might work out cheaper in end

Get the fabia rebuilt and remapped ready for my first trackday at Rockingham in early March.... Full rebuild now as getting forged rods in to cope with well over 400 lb of torque. Upgrading lots of other bits whilst the engine is in bits - might as well. Enjoying my current MX5 "courtesy car" immensely so in no rush to get the car back.

Still to decide on the best pipe option for the n20 feed, twin lines or braided but the later will need a purge valve :?

Give the solenoids a good servicing/check over, or update to the new X10 versions

Change the clutch for something a bit more beefy (helix organic fitted at the moment). It's just about ok at the current level, but the occasional 'unhappy' smell tells me it's on it's limit :beatstick:

Maybe treat myself to some new drag slicks for Christmas

Fit a -4 braided line mate. Buy a cheap NOS solenoid from Real steel or similar (get the smallest cheapest one you can) and lash it into a Tee just before the pulsoid. You wont have any problems with a NOS solenoid for purging. Although, I was talking to a mate the other day who says he has no probs with his NOS solenoids for pulse use as they have better teflon seats now??

Just leave the clutch as it is and we can cook our bacon on your bell housing after one of your runs next year

would fit -3 if its with in ya max flow ya want , if ya can aviod the T and purge i recon ya be better off but recon keeping the pipe as close to ya flow as possible and least amount of fittings would be best

would need to ask Trev but a quick blip from 1/3rd revs just before burn out if ya pipe not to excessive be cool as ya run gas alway thro system

I've just finished the initial tidy up on my new (old) rims!!

I've been using my 1970's 14x8 slot mags on the rear for a good while now. But I cant get any replacement slicks for the 14's anymore.

So I nabbed myself a pair of identical Wolfrace 15x9's on fleabay...But they are in a sorry state. So I've spent 7 hours scrubbing by hand to get them clean. Now they are ready to be hit with a power mop and some "Peek" ally cleaner.
This means I can go from my old 26" tall slicks to a set of 28" tall slicks. I dont know why they are listed as 28" tall cos they actually are 27.3" tall??

Before
Image

And after
Image

Now I just have to find some bolt on vlaves and get them machined for my PCD on the MGB :)

A job I must do is tidy up the heater bottle wiring in my boot, extend the switch through to the centre consol
and find a switched supply

Solved the problem of getting my bottles filled, a work mate lives just round the corner from WON HQ :D

I've got so much to do it's scary.

This seasons bike just needs a bit of a tidy up,especially the electrics. There's so little room to put everything. So got to get a bit inventive and make a space somewhere. Also got a new front end to put in,she'll finally have modern (light) wheels and street tyres instead of the very undrag like knobblies

Fitted a fresh motor for the last meeting so at least thats one thing I don't have to worry about.
The plan at the mo is that Bev (the wife) will ride this one in supertwins next year, while I build a new bike for myself to race.

No compromises this year full on forged motor and loads of nitrous.Race only.Going to try Trev's suggestion of building a low compression bullet proof motor with nitrous providing the power.Going EFI too, just to give me something to do

Almost got a rolling chassis sorted, stretched swingarm, short front end with 68" max wheel base 16" front wheel.

Motor is stripped, ready for a visit to Moo's latest discovery "vibration free". Got forged rods that should be good for 150hp + with further options when req'd.got to make a decision on pistons soon, probably going bigger bore,Trev made a good point on this! if you go to a bigger bore the valve cutouts are moved further from the edge,so making the piston stronger.

Should keep me out of trouble this winter,i've still got the beemer to turbo too

I've taken my new shiny rims to the nice man at the machine shop. He's going to mill them with some nice new MGB holes in between the Ford holes so I can get them fitted by Xmas.
He is also an MG man, so I get a favourable price for jobs like this :)

He is literally a mile away from my house, which is nice :)

Hi :)

Just booked my car in for the new Clifford 650 Alarm system to be fitted on the 15th/16th its a lot of work so will take 2 days....

It will give me "Intellistart" (remote control starting)...don`t you just hate getting in a cold car lol...

Also "Smart windows/Sunroof" ...autoclosing plus one touch open close etc...

Blackjax AntiHijacking system....if car jacked you just give them the keys and off they drive for about 30 seconds then alarm siren goes off plus all lights flash plus ignition slowly shuts down.

Dual Proximity alarm, warns anyone away from car if closer than 2 feet, etc....

I do love my gadgets lol.....

All the best Brett :)

My new alarm has a big PA system built in. If the car gets stolen, a message plays from a hidden PA horn under the car. The ignition shuts down and the speaker says. "warning!! this prick has just nicked an MG"

Fit a shorter Final drive in the box

Get the WON setup working with a max extreme

Map the car on race fuel

Fit a better suspension setup for the strip

Worked on leaking water pipe in house until midnight, so today I reconnected the NOS and have a blast to cheer myself up.

WRONG, bottle pressure switch leaking (but at least I found out now and not when I next goto the track). That's on its way back to WON.

So thought I'd have a non NOS blast, WRONG again, rear caliper siezed. Thought that was fixed, but obviously not, so thats why my MPG's had dropped. :beatstick: :beatstick: :beatstick: :beatstick: :beatstick:

That's 3 things AGAIN in a 24 hour period.
Oh GOD what have I ever done to you
