I've decided to go to one of these events. I rang the Pod yesterday and they said only 20 racers have booked in, so just turn up and pay. No need to book.
Its 45 quid more than a normal RWYB. But it looks like the track time will be huge with no delays.

Dave Bailey and either Ant or myself will be there to see if Dave can run under 7 secs using the Revo, so I might see you there Perry and this time if it's me, I may get time to give you some assistance. ;)

Book an appointment somewhere over Pod way and reduce the risk of getting done for it, or even get the MOT done while you're over there.

Drop of race car, take tow car to MOT station, go back and race, collect tow car and go home, you've done a far more complicated maneuver Moo. LOL

Sorry about laughing on the phone today Moo!!
But I just had to :beatstick:

I had visions of Claire pointing and laughing, while you had steam coming out of your ears :D

Actually, I may do Sunday instead now

And try to make it there by 10.30 so you will still be in one piece.

I'd love to feel that acceleration from Daves Bike. I wonder if he's got a sidecar???

a day of 2halfs

1, lack of traction (0.4 slower than best but 4mph more)
2, wierd electrical fault half way up the strip on 2nd run which made the engine cut out

it then wouldnt restart once rolled off the strip, after leaving it for 90mins got it running again but like a bag of snappers lol
it seems ive found the 1st breaking point of the essex, possible HG failure

on the plus side, i found that the gearbox was FULL! of water! dont ask me how, i dont have a clue
once the H2O was replaced by gearbox oil i found shifting gears much easier lol

HMM??
A very strange day for me as well Moo!!

But at least I got to fault find my electrical problem. Even if I did have to persuade a few folk that my MG was a VW or a Ford :D :D
Actually, it wasnt that hard. I just gave Carol and Nicki in the sign on office one of my cheeky smiles and they were like putty in my hands. That, and the fact that one of the VW girls who was organising the fire up lane lives round the corner from me ;) Bless her...

My car ran so much like a bag of spanners all day, that I was seriously considering putting a Ford badge on it though :D  :D
If it had got any worse than that. I'd have put a Yamaha badge on instead  :beatstick:

But after I did some tweaks I got straight back into the low 12's. I just wish I had been able to do one more run before close. Because I'm sure I would have got back to 11.5's again. Ho Hum....Next time eh?

But overall a great day out eh Moo? We met Trev and the lovely Janet. We also met Austin. Who is a WON user and looks in here now and then. But he doesnt post up anything. Come on Austin, post up to say hello. You should be well pleased that the
2 1/2 ton tank of yours runs those time mate. You just need to get some good rubber up the arse end and you will be smiling big time. I hope you had a good run back to Brighton mate.

The Old Skool Ford boys were a good laugh as well. I was made welcome last year at the OSf day out as well.

Right. I'm off to buy some distributor caps and rotor arms. Then I'll be bitch slapping the Yamaha all the way back to Japan next year :D :beatstick: :D

I'm going to be doing a weekender at the Pod in October for the Saturday night special. If the weather is good, we race Saturday and Sunday. If the weather is crap. We just sit by the tents having a beer and talking shite all night.

Moo!! We never did get to see the stripper did we :(

we never did :(
but hay im still alive even though i got home at midnight and slept most of sunday :D

all i have to say on the mg/ford thing is, a ford owner knows he will need a spare dizzi cap and so keeps one in the glovebox ;)

yeah its always nice to speak to the lovely janet, and that old bugger shes always with  :beatstick:
cheers to austin for assisting in the gearbox water to oil swap

you should know us oldskoolford types are the good guys ;)

So you guys managed to run in the VW event then????

If that's the case, shame we couldn't have made Dave's bike look more like a VW, because I'm sure the next run that day would have been even quicker.

Hi Austin,

Welcome to my forum and good to meet you at the Pod.

Yes we could all do with one more run, especially when we're getting so close to new PB's but I'd be happy for Dave to get just one run this weekend the way the weather is looking.

Hi Austin!!
Great day out wasnt it??
Especially Moo's Water to oil gearbox modification eh?

You should try to get along to the Saturday Night special in October. Bring a tent or a quilt to doss down in the truck mate. I will be there with a bunch of MG guys. Come rain or shine we always have a laugh. If the weather is good we race. If its raining we still have a laugh. Then we camp out having a few tinnies on the Sat night and hope that we can race on the Sunday.

I'm thinking of getting some VW and BMW badges to stick on the MGB now. I've been invited to the Ultimate BMW show by two groups now.

Good to see you posting on here mate.
