But when ya out and about in ya cars and vans hears some info
I have received information from RPU Traffic Management that the company who look after the Variable Speed cameras between Jct 10 - 15 on the M25 on behalf of the Metropolitan police are ACTIVATING the cameras from 15/02/08.
The current cameras are analogue and the speed for enforcement is set at 93mph. However the system is changing to Digital and the Commissioner has directed the company to set the cameras at ACPO guidelines, this will be 80mph
M42 8 cameras are running enforcement at the moment and booking about 150 per week. The levels are only really enforced when the variable limits are set but the upper range is at 96 when no limit is set. Interestingly the majority of offenses are being recorded on the outside two sites, so people are not slowing down for the first site in time.
M20 5 Cameras installed two weeks ago but will not be operational for a month or so due to delays in setting up.
M25 west side 12 Cameras will be installed within the next two weeks and then operational a month or so later.
M25 south of Dartford 2 Cameras in about 6 months, operational a month after
M42 7-9 14 cameras in 1 year
M1 6-10 8 cameras in 1 year
When set with variable limits the upper speed will be:
60mph + 6
50mph+5
40mph+4
you get the idea...10%
The funny thing is the police/HA insist on 500 NIP's per scheme per month to make it worth it. Not about money then is it? What happens if we all do the limit?
And this is confirmed Info frome some one in the Know so to speak
