Just for the record, disowning my child was simply a mental state of being. He was always on my mine and in my heart. I had to reach very deep in my mine to deal with the lost of my child and the control of my wife. I had determine how to deal with my situation giving me the advantage because truly she had it from the beginning. I figured if i made her believe that i have moved on with my life, she could not have used my son that i silently loved against me. Again this does not work out this way for most! I had something on my side giving me the advantage. FAITH

I understand what you mean now and that's basically what I had to do to keep me going and sadly I still have to.

He was always on my mind and in my heart.
Likewise, I've spent many hours many nights, thinking about my son and trying to find a solution to the situation.

I had to reach very deep in my mind to deal with the loss of my child and the control of my wife.
I certainly know how hard that was for you and I have friends who have been unable to do that, resulting in mental disorders and drink problems for them. You and I are very lucky that we have that mental strength but I'm just unfortunate that I'm having to rely on it for much longer than you have.

I had determine how to deal with my situation giving me the advantage because truly she had it from the beginning. I figured if i made her believe that i have moved on with my life, she could not have used my son that i silently loved against me.
That must be where I went wrong. :(

Again this does not work out this way for most! I had something on my side giving me the advantage. FAITH
It certainly doesn't work for everyone but I'm pleased that it worked for you and I envy you your relationship with your son.

Regards

This is one very nice thread to read at this hour. So many point which i really do agree on and probably do anyway (mostly the women bits!). I'd like to add:

1) If a girl says 'no' the first time, don't bother any further! I had to learn this the hard way and ended up spending 14k on a celica to make myself feel better...

2) Met a girl fairly recently and then realised it donest matter how fast your car is, how many people you know, how much money you have...nothing can make you as happy as a lady.

3) Moving on from girls, always respect and do whatever you can to keep your parents happy-even moreso if they weren't rich when bringing you up, because they made a helluva sacrifice to bring you up and they certainly didn't expect their once darling in their arms, to show disrespect.

4) Lie to others if you must, but don't lie to yourself. The smart ones will understand that one.

5) I swear by this one and its a Ron original! lol: "You can have anything you want in this world, if you pay in the right currency" The 'currency' for something like love would be 'care and attention', the currency for being a footballer would be 'training and dedication', the currency for a nice body would be 'hard work at the gym and discipline', fastest celica in the land...well, some things never change - 'lots of £££' :)

Notice how so many posts on this thread are about women...just go's to show, we really can't live without em, dispite thinking all we need to survive in life is booze, money and nitrous refills!

Good post Ron,

Can't agree with you on the first one, as Janet politely turned me down after our first date but changed her mind a while later, which has lead to us being together now for 10 exceptionally good years and we're still going strong.

I'm certainly with you on the rest. 8)

"You do not know high you can fly until you spread your wings"

"You can not get to the top unless you climb the mountain"

"you cant have a rainbow without the rain"

And the most important of all is that life is too short and your wife and children are more important to you than any amount of money, any other person, and most importantly yourself.

If you have read our story on our web site you will understand.

Having read ALL of what everyone had to share, I've got a new level of respect for all of you. Some for what you share, some for what you didn't.(and that can take more balls)

I find it amazing that an "open topic" type thread is occupied by women, and life experience, where so much of our day to day life is spent thinking of other things. Some observations about this thread:

- Very little "money" talk
- Very little "race" talk
- Lots of truth that you'd rarely hear shared at the Pub
- Lots of men admiting they have been wrong in some way.

So that's my contribution for now...just an observation that made me smile. Keep up the great posts! :D

Adam

Yes I knew that Warren, I've also been 'briefed' on some of your 'history' which is why I invited you to post your site link. ;)

Adam it's nice to see that you've appreciated/enjoyed this thread.

I'm sure you're aware, any male who doesn't admit to having ever been wrong can't be considered a man, just a liar. ;)
If anyone ever hears a woman admit she's wrong please let me know, because that will be a worlds first.

I'm very proud of the content of this thread and the fact that it's on my site. Our contributors are oustanding people and I just hope it does someone some good, as I'm sure we all intended it to.

Regards

I just mentioned my comment about women never admitting to being wrong to Janet and she says that's because they never are.

How wise!!!

Makes sense to me.

Ant is always ASTONISHED at how I maintain my enthusiasm, when past experiences and present problems should have got the better of me by now.

Ever the optimist!!!!

Once again we have the same qualities. ;)

Another bit of education, don't get finance or credit cards! I financed a new bike once, nerver again! The stories i hear about people with 30k on credit cards is incredible, don't fall down that trap, you'll have no life!

VERY TRUE!!!

I'm just bailing out a friend who has got over his head in debt due to the insane interest rates and charges - I just hope he's learned from the experience.

Great thread Trev, only just spotted it. Heres some of what I know and believe in;

1). Don't shit on your own doorstep.

2). If it's not broke, don’t fix it.

3). What goes around comes around.

4). Don't smoke, cause your just wasting your money and your health.

5). Seeing is believing.

6). Don't put off until tomorrow, what can be done today (OR, Don't put off what can be done today until tomorrow).

7). Blood is thicker than water.

8). Treat others how you wish to be treated.

9). Drugs are pointless and will make you feel worse in the long term.

10). If tell one lie you will need to tell ten more.

11). Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

12). Everybody loves a joker but no one likes a fool.

and on the relations side of things;

1). If you let her go and she comes back to you she is yours, if she does'nt she never was yours.

Very worthy additions, although I have a couple of comments to make

I hope so, because there are plenty of people out there that deserve to be on the wrong end of the shit they've dished out.

5). Seeing is believing.
Not one I'd live by now as I've made judgements on what I've seen and been wrong, because what you see is not always what you think it is.

7). Blood is thicker than water.
Another one that I've seen proven wrong and the only blood I know to be thicker than water is my own.

8). Treat others how you wish to be treated.
This is the one I live by.

1). If you let her go and she comes back to you she is yours, if she does'nt she never was yours.
Very true, never hold on to a woman unless she's holding on to you. Mind you I've never had one walk away but if one did, I wouldn't have been there when she came back. lol

Let's just say that when you have more money than your brothers, jealousy and avarice can result in some very 'thin' activities by those with least.

I agree with the comments above Trev and things are sometimes not as they seem, very good. But generally you can draw your own conclusion by experiencing (seeing) an action or phenomenon for your self,
A couple more here;

- Waste not, want not.

- What does not kill you will only make you stronger. (This is very true)

- Good things come to those who wait.

- (kind of random but,,) – There is plenty more fish in the sea,

- If at first you don’t succeed, pick your self up and try again.
