Hi again all, i have done a search but cant realy find what i am looking for. You see looking at the inside of the plenium on the 355, there is eight little trumpets, four on each side. I am looking to eventually replicate the other 355 spider on this site with the single injector at each mouth of the pleneum (two in all),and indeed the 348 of Andys. So i have two questions that i would like to ask if i may.
(1) will there be left over residue of fuel and nitrous pooling on the base of the 8 trumpets in the bottom of the pleneum? Of course the direct port injection like i used to use would not suffer from that problem by the very nature of the direct port system.
Also would the two injector system at the mouths of the plemeum cause the trumpets furthest away from the mouth/injector for any reason run lean or even be starved of the injected nitrous?
I do hope this make sense, and thank you for any answers :)

i doubt there would even be be air to breath in the surrounding area of your car let alone pooling pooling of nitrous or fuel

Good questions.

If it was a U.S. system you were using I'd say you'd have a lot to be concerned about on both counts. Even on my systems I can't honestly say that you have "nothing" to be concerned about although existing results from the same and similar set ups indicate that you don't.

I "believe" the design of my Crossfire injector achieves outstanding atomisation of the fuel and as a consequence very little puddling is likely and as I said above nobody else has experienced any symptoms of this problem.
The same applies to the distribution, a single injector can't achieve optimum distribution and if you were using any other nozzle I'm sure you'd have a problem. However we've proven on a number of vehicles including Vipers (which are a bigger problem than yours having 10 cylinder and bigger bores) that the problem doesn't seem to exist when using the Crossfire injectors. The reason for this is that the Crossfires deliver a very wide fan of well mixed fuel and nitrous, so even if you don't get perfect distribution at least you get the right ratio of both to each cylinder so you're very unlikely to have a lean out that the likes of Vipers suffer when using single Foggers (or any other U.S. made nozzle).

A DP system would be likely to be better for both your concerns but based on past experience I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

Regards

Thank you for that Trever. I do see that the guys who have done this have had no problems, but i thought i would ask first becourse i am doig my home work before i do the fitting during winter. And i realy dont want to be the first ferrari to have problems being that an engine would cost around 40K :( Any way thanks again Trev.

A quick search tells me that a second hand spider only  costs £40k. Plus you would be better off getting your old engine fixed and fettled instead.

Actually he'd be better off not having any problems at all -

Which is what he's trying to achieve by doing his homework. ;)

Unfortunately I don't know all the combinations of induction styles used on the thousands of different engine formats (although I do know many and add more daily), which means that sometimes a kit gets supplied and fitted that is less than ideal for the induction layout. However if a potential customer gives enough details and asks enough questions, I can make sure the risks are minimsed to an acceptable level to achieve reliable and outstanding performance. 8)

Daveg360 A quick search can tell you what ya like. 40 grand buys you a bottom of the line 355 spider that needs grands to fix up anyway and it will be a lHD, mine was 68K 18 months ago. Were as a 355 gts will cost from 38K.
So picture this, an engine blows up, what do ya do? buy yet another spider?? Clearly you know nothin about 355s. So do another slower search and you will see the cost of a new engine, also it is widly known that even if a cambelt breaks on a 355 that will cost around 15k-20K to put right. I have owened ferraris for the last 8 years, i know the deal. For egsample, to gain only 15 bhp using Capristo De-cat, and K&Ns along with ECU remap will cost 5K. For the twin turbo set up will cost 25K. nd for a rebuilt top end15-20K. No one touches the internals of a 355 engine for tuning, like bigger bores ect becourse the price would be so very high.So pound for pound to gain power on a ferrari engine, nitrous is the sure fire way to go, so thats why i need to do the homework.

ATF Power have just finished a rebuild on an 360 engine to put in a carbon bodied 328, fully reworked strengthend etc, even designed carbon propshafts for it...the cost.....28K, but, the 360 may be easier to work on....just out of interest though, why do you want to put Nitrous on your 355, and how big a shot are you planning on running?

Well, there is that :), but, in my typically blinkered view :), a lot of us that do add nitrous to the car/bike plan on drag racing it, I was just curious if mr spider was going to have a run up the ole blacktop dyno :)

There is no big secret as to why i want nitrous. First i used to have nitrous on my cars some 15 years ago, so i know what it can do. And even back then you had it on road cars and not just for the strip.
Second, i ould go for the Norwood twin turbo conversion, or indeed the hammond twin turbo conversion. Biut that costs about £30,000 for the conversion and you have to get your car to the US or Germany, and you only get around 100 extra bhp for this amount on money :(
A ferrari is a ferrari is a car at the end of the day so why should i not have a shot if i want it. The only thing that is special about a ferrari is the racing pedegree and the hudge cost of the car and parts, at the end of the day a good porsche GT2 is faster.
And my final reason for wanting it is becourse i do alot of air feild days and my last was the Drivers Run top speed challenge at Bruntingthorp air feild in which my non standard 355 beat the 360s and beat them royaly down thw two mile strip :) And i was some 3 seconds behind the new 500hp F430 down the two mile strip. So what would a 100bhp of nitrous have done for me on these days.
Finay please dont confuse me with the average granny shifting ferrari drivers that are out there. I am all blood and thunder and i drive my cars that way. I also have three motor bikes as well which include a 2000 model Hiyabusa, 2001 mv agusta, and a Duke 996, and i may want nitrous on them as well. Why? becourse i can. And the company ATF that rebuilt the 360 engine have just done that rebuilt it, not increased the power by much if at all.

I have nitrous on my Skyline purely for the drag strip, I also have an AMG SL, but, will not be putting nitrous on that.

Sorry FSpider - should have searched more. Its an absolute joke amount of money though - surely dictated by the amount owners have available rather than the amount it actually costs

**Note to self**
Must get into Ferrari tuning. Make more money than a coke dealer and get to "test" drive loads of cool cars

Ya right Dave, its makes me sad mate. becourse after all it only another car. Hey one of my friends had his spider roof fail becourse of a small 5inch piston ram, its a simple hydrolic device. Ferrari charges £1400 for just the part :( . He took it to a hydrolic specialist and they got him one of the shelf for £45!!! What!! :o
As my son once said about the prices of parts "who do they think they are" :) But i knew what i was buying into when i bought my first one, but i will always resist paying through the nose when i can.

Spider,
I know what you mean about the parts prices. A friend had to spend $600 on a broken seat belt for his Porsche. This is what keeps me from buying a nice sports car for now. The intial price on a used car would be possible but if anything breaks forget about it.

You seem to have enough toys that I want so maybe I can just borrow them when I make the trip over.
