Morning Everyone,
Quick question with regards to the Max Extreme 1 and Heater Blanket.

As you can see in the diagram below that there is a N2O Switch, now if I hook this up as per the diagram will this cut the supply to the heater blanket after it reaches the optimum pressure in the bottle?

Or/

Will I need to put the Switch in-between Pin 87 of the relay going to the heater blanket as in the diagram below?

Sorry for the dumbass question

BagPuss...From what I see in the diagram, I would not put the connection AFTER the relay. You need the relay to allow the controller to determine "on/off" current to the blanket. Also, I don't know if this pertains to the X1 (V1), but for the X2 I was told that you do not need both the transducer and the switch, since they both can do the same things. If you look at the wiring both the transducer and the switch input into the controller at the same connection. They also both grab power from a 12v switched source going into the relay. The yellow wire (output 1) is how the controller signals the relay. It opens the relay to increase bottle pressure when it receives a signal from the switch/transducer that does not meet the condition you set up in the controller by turning on the blanket.

Morning,

The Max Ex 1 is going onto the 1990 VW Scirocco and the Max Ex 2 is going onto the Mondeo ST TDCi.

I can see that they both are doing a similar thing, but for me it’s more of a FailSafe System, the Transducer I’ll be able to read the bottle pressure on the screen (depending on the update of software) whereas the Switch is in a Normally Closed state (Under normal conditions) so therefore only when the bottle pressure is above 950psi the contacts open and switch the heater blanket off, basically keeping the bottle at the optimum pressure.

That’s what I’m hoping the Max Ext 1 does.

I will put a 20A Switch in for the Blanket anyway.

Just curious what lower and upper range are you going to use for the nitrous pressure switch? It seems to me that the relay will be doing alot of work if your range is narrow (say between 925 - 950 psi). I suppose it all depends on how much liquid you have in the bottle. A nearly full bottle should hold a given pressure for quite a long time, whereas a half empty bottle will require the blanket to cycle on/off a fair amount in order to hold the optimum pressure you mentioned.

It's around 950psi, so when it drops below that, the heater is triggered, hence Normally Closed switch, it's keeps the optimum pressure from the bottle.

Hence wanting to be safe

BagPuss, the relay is normally open and the Max has to supply power for it to close and provide power to the heater blanket. If the relay loses power, it will open and turn off the heater. There is no need for an extra switch, the Maxy handles everything. Furthermore, the PRV valve in the WoN bottle will slowly bleed off any excess bottle pressure, maintaining a level of safety no traditional burst disk offers.

Ok, So we're saying that all that is needed is the NOS Transducer and not the NOS Switch as the Max Extreme will operate the Heater Blanket as it needs.

Yes, the Max will provide the earth to the relay based on the transducer signal. If the max reads a low cyl pressure, it will close the relay and vice verses when the cyl press is adequate. The arm switch in the diagram provides power to the max and the relay so the switch also cuts off the relay coil power.
