ive just ordered this for my car: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Fiesta-M ... 1637006397

Its advertised as a stage 2 Kevlar clutch kit, which can handle 30% more torque than the standard clutch. My std clutch hasnt gone yet, but i have noticed my clutch biting point has got higher since using nitrous, and I will have this on standby should the inevitable happen.

Wise move as long as it's as good as it claims.

Haha YESSS!

I'm also working on bringing the Sonic back up to 50 hp. In order to do that it was either uprate the fuel pump, or this:

If you can't tell, it's alky injection. It's a direct port kit, but I can make do with only one alky injector to solve my problem. 2 injectors if I want to go for 75 hp

I went for a Nitrous refill today, and have arranged for Pete to supply and fit a bottle heater for the winter months

I drove down to see Pete at Street car nitrous and he fitted me a won bottle heater :D

on the drive down to see Pete the bottle pressure was a measly 600 psi, and the 40 shot felt more like a 25 shot, on the drive home with the bottle heater on, the pressure was around 950 to 1000 psi and the nitrous hit was mighty

when i visit Pete again for a refill, he is going to move my pressure gauge from the bottle and put it on the dash board which is far more convenient. The heater pressure switch is just fitted temporarily at the moment, and will be mounted on the bottle at the same time.

heres a little vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK1okCjIEpo

the weather is pretty cool now to be honest, we are on the slippery slope to winter here.

the heater has already made a noticeable difference in the delivery of the nitrous, its pretty mental now

I'm happy that you're happy with the performance. You'd be surprised out how many complainers put down nitrous for 'needing a heater' to get performance when it's such an inexpensive and easy add-on.

After a couple of days of evaluating the bottle heater, I can report that the hit of the nitrous feels much stronger now... even when the out side temperature isnt particularly cold.

The average bottle temperature i used to see throughout the summer was about 750 to 800 psi, but now with the heater, im running at a constant 950 to 1000 psi, and the car is going the best its ever gone on the spray... I would even go as far as saying, it feels like bigger jets have been fitted.

That's the result of higher flow from the nitrous. The same would've been achieved by fitting a larger nitrous jet. The benefit with the heater, as you mentioned, more consistent performance every day.

I had some fun on the motorway today

It seems the big executive cars get spooked by a little blue fiesta that has sudden bursts of acceleration in 5th gear from 70 mph :omgrofl:

im so in love with my WON bottle heater... it has transformed the hit of the nitrous, no lag what so ever now in delivery, and the nitrous hit is so much stronger at 1000 psi.... even in 5th gear at motorway speeds.

I'm glad your performance results have exceeded your expectations.

However, be aware with engaging nitrous in high gears from too high a load, this has the potential to overload the engine and hurt something. You should drop one more gear to avoid excessive load.

I shall bear that in mind

I wouldn't worry about what gear you are in alone as it needs to be considered in conjunction with what speed, rpm and what ability the car has to accelerate FREELY from the point of activation.

For example;
If you were on a downhill slope, in top gear, accelerating up to say 4,000 rpm (at whatever speed) and then activated the nitrous, it should be fine.
In the other extreme; if you were on an uphill slope, struggling to pull say 2,000 rpm (at whatever speed) and then activated the nitrous, you'd probably break a piston.
The trick is to avoid the negative side of the point at which these two examples merge.

One thing I would suggest you do, is call the office and tell them what size jets you are running, to make sure that you have a suitably large enough jet to match the higher nitrous flow from having a heater. As Alex stated above, adding a heater equates to having fitted a bigger nitrous jet and in your example of pressure changes, that's an increase in the region of 30%, which means that you are now running ROUGHLY 30% leaner than before.

When we sell kits without heaters, we try to take into account the time of year they are being bought and will probably be used in, which in the UK is usually well down from the max that can be seen on hot days (as you 700 psi proves). We do that by supplying the kits with fuel jets that are one or two sizes down from what we'd run on a hot day or with a heater.
When running with a heater on an average day a ratio of 2:1 is usually acceptable but for the 4 following reasons, I'd suggest you go one more jet size bigger than that (on the fuel), if I were you;
1) Your motor is relatively small
2) As far as I'm aware it still has the original cast pistons
3) It sounds like you're using it quite often compared to say a Drag racer
4) If you intend to use it over the next few cooler months, the NA oxygen level will be higher and although your ECU should correct for that, it may not be able to do so when the nitrous is also flowing and pulling more NA oxygen in.

Increasing the fuel jet can't do any harm and could not only make the nitrous use safer/kinder to the motor but also produce even better performance results.

Thanks for the input Trevor, i cant remember what the actual number size of the jets are, will check today in day light...

I can remember though it was a 40 shot at 2:1 ratio.

and yes the difference in power the heater has provided does feel as if a larger 'shot' has been fitted...

I phoned WON up today to enquire and purchase a larger fuel jet, but unfortunately was unable to get through to speak to someone.

I may be able to purchase a jet elsewhere, maybe through Pete or another WON agent... am I right in thinking the next fuel jet up from a 40 would be a 50 jet ?

Thanks in advance

Dave :salute:
