Hello, I have a fox body with 351w, forged pistons, aluminum heads, about 10 to 1 compression. I had my initial timing at about 14 btdc. I just added 100 shot and I had to pull my timing all the way to 6 btdc before the engine would stop making the knock sound. Has anyone had to pull so much timing just for 100 shot? Is there anything I could do to help with the knock, I was really wanting to run a lot more nitrous down the road and don't think I should be pulling more timing from the distrubuter. I have just been tuning the engine with mph and by looking at the plugs. Maybe mixing race gas? Has anyone ever run a larger fuel jet then recommended in the kit? thanks in advance. Im new to nitrous and have a lot to learn as far as the tuning goes

Generally, not much ignition timing needs to be pulled on such an engine. However, there may be a few items that could contribute to your issues such as the type of piston used (sharp valve reliefs), too hot a spark plug, fuel quality, fuel octane, lean nitrous ratio, etc.

Could you provide more details about the kit and the engine build? It would be of fantastic help.

I'm guessing this is a US brand kit otherwise there is something VERY wrong, as a WON system should not cause detonation with full advance at that power level.
The most likely cause of your problem is the fact that US kits deliver the nitrous long before the fuel and as a consequence causes the engine to run extremely lean, which causes detonation.
You should dump that kit and upgrade to a WON system, which would solve your current problem and save you from those you will undoubtedly suffer in future.

If by any chance this is a WON system, the only likely cause would be the length of the supply pipes, so if it is one of our systems, please send me pictures of your installation for further advice on how to solve the problem.
