If I install a NOS system on my car specifically for track use , and therefore never have the bottle in position or connected when on the public roads , do I need to advise my insurance company ?

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of but you could have it available for regular road use and get cover for not much more than normal from Adrian Flux or Greenlight.

As Trev say's it should not be a problem if the bottle is removed for road use. But if you decide to insure with nitrous for road use with the companies Trev has stated and you dont get a favourable response talk to Trev about who you should talk to at that company as a lot of folk sometimes have problems with this as they are not talking to the right person. I used Flux for years with my MG + nitrous after talking to Trev for advice. This was back around 2009 but the nitorus onoly cost me another £70 per year for road use :)

My only concern would be, god forbid you have an accident on public roads and even though the bottle wasn't connected they may not look at it like that and void your insurance for not disclosing it.

I've always declared everything, that way they cannot dispute.

Just looking at it with caution that's all.

All insurance companies I've spoken to say it makes no difference whether the bottle is connected or not, the car is still modified and must be declared. Another thumbs up here for Adrian Flux though, never had a problem insuring nitrous with them.

For the record, I've NEVER known anyone have their insurance voided for ANY reason relating to nitrous.

Obviously it's less of a risk to stick to the rules.

Personally I've never been good at sticking to any rules (I guess that's what's made me a good inventor), which is lucky for all you guys, because if I had been a 'good boy' I'd never have advanced nitrous as far as I have, as it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a car insured with nitrous for the first 15 to 20 years I was using it (on the road & track) and it was only MY DETERMINATION to get that changed (and impeccable product safety record), that persuaded Flux to offer cover to all my customers.
