I've fitted an 80s power rohr pipe (sourced by my wife for xmas!) to my golf and i was thinking of getting a boss welded in for the crossfire injector on my nitrous kit, has anyone done this before and what type of fitting did they weld in?

On a non nitrous but car related issue, to clear the brake reservoir i removed it and turned it round 180 degrees, the reservoir has two pipes the same size entering the master cylinder, I'm thinking this won't effect it, took it for spin no issues just wondering!

You could add a threaded boss (10mm x 1mm metric FINE) but there's no real need, as we can supply a suitable fitting that doesn't need any welding to secure the Crossfire to ANY pipe.

Dan,

I took the Power Rohr off mine (1990 VW Scirocco) as the guys in Holland were saying it effects the swirl of air hence why it was originally designed like a 'dog leg', so there was no benefit in having it, the same as drilling the Air Box, in fact that made it worse :loser:

Sorry, I've tried them and gone back to standard, just fitted a K&N Panel Filter instead.

I've decided to give the pipe a go and see if there's any improvements.
I'm trying to use the fixings I have for the injector but I'm getting a leak from the outside of the injector where the rubber ring part is against the pipe, I sealed either end of the pipe off and pressurised it gently to test it, the injector is very tight and I don't think I'd get another turn out of it, I've not used any silicon or anything hoping I wouldn't need it. Have I installed correctly?
Thanks

Another way when I had my power rohr was to put it in a vice and make it an Oval shape, at least that might help with the sealing issue, or you could use some PTFE tape on the thread.

If you're not keen on making it an oval which suits the original shape, if I can find my old power rohr you're more than welcome to have it if you just want to pay for the postage?

Unless it's turbo'd a small leak is not going to be a problem at that point but it sounds like you've drilled the hole a bit too big, as the internal retainer has a taper on it that is intended to lock and seal against the hole, which it doesn't seem to be doing.
I would apply just a SMALL amount of silicone sealer to stop the leak if you are concerned about it.

Thanks bagpus that's very generous of you but I've managed to get good a seal with the Ptfe tape and silicon, I think I was probably being a bit anal checking for leaks with this technique..... Got some funny looks from the wife anyway.

I've found that Power Rohr in the garage, I'll get a photo of how Oval it is just by sticking it in the vice.
