Hi All, new to the forum, just bought a dry nos kit and will be fitting it to my subaru very soon.

Just had a quick question with regards to bottle storage.. i got a full 11lb bottle with my kit. its genuine wizard of nos bottle just the older style i believe.

where can i store this? would it be fine in my house under the bed? or are they dangerous? should i keep them outside in garage shed? or the cellar?

Also i have an us american style nos bottle aswell which i bought in error, 3 quarters full.. heard these are even worse and need more special care for storage?

can anyone shed some light?

Thanks

p.s. pics of my kit attached.. :) and of both bottles ( lame pic i know)

also its my first won kit.. can anyone tell me how to make sure its completely shit etc. on the american bottle its got open and close.. lol newbie question i know, but dont fancy leaks in the house.

Store your bottles in the shed or garage. I assume by "completely shit" you mean "completely shut" :)

All bottle valves open and close the same way. So Clockwise to close the valves !!

It's an EXTREMELY OLD bottle and more importantly VALVE and you SHOULD replace that valve with one of our latest, as I have to admit, that although the concept was great, the actual quality was NOT and I'm AMAZED to see one still in one piece and possibly working.
A failure is potentially fatal to the operator, so it is VITALLY IMPORTANT that you replace.

In the garage unless you intend to fit and use them, in which case storing them in a warm location would be beneficial.

Correct, the bottles are weaker and that valve should also be replaced as they aren't much better than our old one, even though they still sell them.

can anyone tell me how to make sure its completely shit etc.
Contrary to Perry's advice our OLD valves actually worked in REVERSE to other valves, PLUS (the good concept), they were self shutting (unlike any other valve).

The old valves worked in reverse ??

So clockwise to open like some oxygen valves then, which use cylinder pressure to aid closing!! How long ago was that Trev ???

Correct Perry and it was almost so long ago that it was a struggle to remember.

You'd need this version for the US bottle, which as I stated is also in need of replacing for safety reasons;

http://www.noswizard.com/nitrous-ancill ... e-984.html

Here are 2 video clips to show 2 good reasons to replace both;

http://www.noswizard.com/videos/SPRV%20 ... 20last.wmv

http://www.noswizard.com/videos/Valve%20drop%20test.wmv

The bottle that goes bang at the end, is using a US type rupture disc and if it wasn't secured to the post, it could have caused some damage, which is of particular concern during the filling process.

We put SAFETY FIRST whereas the US companies put PROFIT FIRST & don't even give a thought to safety, otherwise they'd have make the advances and improvements to their products as we have done.

What I don't understand is how they continue to get away with selling such DANGEROUS JUNK.
