By the way, we're currently in the process of supplying a DRY REVO system to fit this manifold for an Australian customer;

The only down side is that he's not aiming to make mind blowing power, so it probably won't impress the LS world.

Trevor,
If funds allow in the future I will certainly upgrade to a setup like that with a REVO wet system and a dart block. Will you be able to post pics of the finished product in the thread ?

Glad to hear it Cardea but we'll probably be able to do an outstanding job with whatever manifold and budjet you have. ;-)

Will you be able to post pics of the finished product in the thread ?
I'll certainly be asking the customers for some pics and if he obliges I'll be posting them on Facebook etc. for sure.

Good to hear because I will most likely debue the prototype setup we have been talking about as I think I'll be the first to use such a WON setup on a LSX engine. Well at least I hope I am the first, lol.

Cool, with the customers permission I would like to mention it in both my LSX nitrous build threads to help plug WON and give LSX guys an idea of what WON can do.

FINALLY SOME HEADWAY IN MY THREAD !

I finished my RXT and Tick Master install on saturday and have begun the oh so exciting break-in process. After adjusting the pedal for the best throw and feel it's not too bad.

Image

The Good:

- Great holding power
- Very smooth
- Install was pretty straight forward and not much different that any other clutch install.
- Lighter than stock pedal engagement

The Bad:

- Slight grinding sound in 3rd/4th gear between 1500-1800rpm and mostly at low speeds. I've read on the site that it's pretty common and nothing to be terribly alarmed about.

- If you push your luck on slipping it at too low a speed it will start to chatter a bit. However, just adding a bit of throttle seems to fix the issue.

Special notes:

- The instructions left much to be desired and are a little mis-leading. In the instructions it says to Torque the 3/8 (Pressure plate) bolts to 35ft lbs and the 5/16 (floater ring) bolts to 25ft lbs.

The thing is though it isn't clear if that's the diameter of the bolts or the bolt head size. So I was a little confused at first since niether bolts heads measured out to be what they called them. In short they could have simply said in the instructions "Torque the floater ring to 25ft lbs and the pressure plate to 35ft lbs",but they don't.

- Also, be sure to check the torque on the adapter ring (the gold ring in the picture) as it's recommended from McLeod to torque to factory specs. I checked mine and some of them where loose so I justed re-torqued them all.

Now that one of the power culprits is taken care of I am very well on my way to power town. I will spend the next few days breaking it in before I make another trip to the DYNO in Casserta. The goal is to get back the 15 or so HP to account for all 150 of that 150 shot and then some ! Next up is a diff rebuild and some stickier tires too ! Needless to say I'm pretty excited !

UPDATE: 13 FEB 14

So my stubs came in today and I'm excited because I got a pretty good deal on them. I'm still undecided if I want to throw in 3.90's or 4.10's but keeping the stock gear is also a possibility too considering I may have something boosted in the future. We'll see how the next few days look as I need to decide soon or I wont have parts in the mail in time to make it before DE2k.

As for the clutch the car drives great and seems to be broken in smoothly with no issues. But I have a slight vibration after 120mph or so,but I think its more to do with the DS possibly being 180* out. From what I understand its common with the one piece swap so no biggy. I'll turn it around and I'm waiting on a new tranny mount to show up. Hopefully I'll have something figured out in the coming weeks also.

It’s a bit long overdue I know but I have scheduled a tentative dyno for April 19th which is next Saturday.

The last order of business is the diff and it’s a pretty important one at that. At this rate it doesn’t look like I will order gears or have them in time for DE2k. So I’m going to shoot for upgrading what I have using the stock gears and just replacing the bearings/races. The clutch has been really good up to now along with the new tires which are head and shoulders above the old stuff I had on the car. My hope is to break the 550hp mark on spray by a considerably number so we will see.

Because the dyno is in a small shed seperate from the building itself. With as many cars as what was supposed to show up the owner was concerned. He felt between the rain and cars cycling in and out it would bring unsafe amounts of rain into the dyno internals. I can't say I blame him for his concern as those things are not cheap !

OK I guessed it might be something along those lines but initially thought it was just you alone being tested.

UPDATE: 30 MAY 14

So I know this is taking a bit longer than it probably should have but life happens from time to time. I have just concluded my “GTO Europe Adventures” thread and can now focus on other things. The car is headed back to the states in about 9 days or so. Once I get back, I’ll be able to focus more on my racing ambitions along with school and other plans that have gone a little cold. I fully intend on WON to be a part of those ambitions as I go so you’ll see more of this thread in the future.

The other last I lost 5th and 6th gear getting into it with a F430 Scuderia. So I won’t be doing any dyno pulls or racing until that is fixed. The car should arrive in the states around August time frame and I’ll pick up this thread then. In the mean time I have a bullet proof Trans to order along with installing the rear end bits that I have long since had. Funds providing I may also order the upgrade parts I need for my direct port conversion.
Bear with me and as always stay tuned.
