FINALLY SOME HEADWAY IN MY THREAD !I finished my RXT and Tick Master install on saturday and have begun the oh so exciting break-in process. After adjusting the pedal for the best throw and feel it's not too bad.
The Good:- Great holding power
- Very smooth
- Install was pretty straight forward and not much different that any other clutch install.
- Lighter than stock pedal engagement
The Bad:- Slight grinding sound in 3rd/4th gear between 1500-1800rpm and mostly at low speeds. I've read on the site that it's pretty common and nothing to be terribly alarmed about.
- If you push your luck on slipping it at too low a speed it will start to chatter a bit. However, just adding a bit of throttle seems to fix the issue.
Special notes:
- The instructions left much to be desired and are a little mis-leading. In the instructions it says to Torque the 3/8 (Pressure plate) bolts to 35ft lbs and the 5/16 (floater ring) bolts to 25ft lbs.
The thing is though it isn't clear if that's the diameter of the bolts or the bolt head size. So I was a little confused at first since niether bolts heads measured out to be what they called them. In short they could have simply said in the instructions
"Torque the floater ring to 25ft lbs and the pressure plate to 35ft lbs",but they don't.
- Also, be sure to check the torque on the adapter ring (the gold ring in the picture) as it's recommended from McLeod to torque to factory specs. I checked mine and some of them where loose so I justed re-torqued them all.
Now that one of the power culprits is taken care of I am very well on my way to power town. I will spend the next few days breaking it in before I make another trip to the DYNO in Casserta. The goal is to get back the 15 or so HP to account for all 150 of that 150 shot and then some ! Next up is a diff rebuild and some stickier tires too ! Needless to say I'm pretty excited !
