Having some issues getting nitrous system to work properly on rover coupe turbo
Have 2 issues
When l activate the nitrous the turbo boost shoots up by approx 10psi  is this normal?

Secondly the car goes like a rocket for approx 3-4 seconds then it goes flat and the boost drops back to the base boost pressure and my wideband shows really rich into 9s
I have a good bottle angle and have checked the jets, I also stripped the nitrous solenoid and it looked ok nylon seat was a bit marked from plunger but I checked it with compressed air and it doesn't pass and works every time I activate it .
Any advise would be appreciated
Thinking next move to strip bottle to check dip tube ...

Can you post some pics of the parts you're using (including the bottle) and tell me what jet sizes you have fitted?

I have to be honest its not one of your kits I have had it for a few years

Hopefully you might still be able to help..

I don't have pics to hand but
I am running nos powershot solenoids connected via a relay with a throttle body mounted micro switch to activate and a main arming switch.

The bottle is not a known brand and holds approx 10lb of nitrous (i have a good angle with the valve pointing down and braided lines throughout with a high flow valve and p/r valve.

I have a fogger type injector nozzle spraying towards the throttle body (approx 150mm before) in the intercooler pipework.

I am running approx quite high fuel pressure approx 4bar

jets are 20 fuel and I think 33 nitrous (which I think should be approx 50bhp)

usually I run 10psi boost low and approx 17psi high turbo boost

But If I use the nitrous I get approx 20psi on low boost and near 25psi or high boost

But only for a several seconds...

thanks
Scott

As you are chucking in a lot more charge when the ntirous activates its not unusual to see higher boost figures as this happens.

Your AFR shows rich which means you nitrous is tailing off for some reason.

I cant help much with your jetting etc because I've not used NOS stuff for many years.

If this is a fixed hit system with a full bottle you have some restriction in the nitrous side. Maybe you have large braided lines which are acting as a nitrous buffer to give you a short burst of liquid before it gets starved??

Fixed it!
I tested the solenoids again but on the car this time by switching off the fuel inertia switch and the nitrous bottle then repeatedly activated the micro switch , solenoids worked every time, I then tried them for approx 4-5 seconds on then off, then straight back on (like a gear change) and they weren't switching back on.
Swapped the relay ,tried again and result works every time !
Tried it on the road perfect except for the boost increase.
Will have to remember to limit boost whenever using the gas .
Boost without nos 9-10psi and 17psi with
Lesson try the simple things first !

I think I might reduce the fuel jet to 18 though as my wideband showed 10.5 on the gas -would think is losing some power
What do you think trev?

Scott's
Hopefully should finally run a good 1/4 now as I run 13.4 @111mph at the weald without the gas recently and cars more suited to circuits.
