First quote from AF for my renewal is £426 so the nitrous is staying as I can live with that. Hopefully get a lower quote with a bit more ringing around.

I had really bad thoughts it was going to sky rocket this year but thankfully it's not too high to make me get rid of the car/nitrous.

Unfortunately a full 180 has had to be done now. I bought myself another car on Wednesday, an 09' RX8 R3 as I alluded to in another post but this was at a price I couldn't refuse. As it's going to be a second car and my having NCB for only one, trying to insure both was a possible problem especially with the Puma being nitrous.

AF could only offer me insurance on the RX8 for just over £900 with zero NCB but the killer was they wanted £760 for TEN years NCB which was ludicrous as it blew me trying to swap/change NCB to get a decent overall price for both cars.

Ended up going elsewhere so that I could mirror my NCB and got both insured for £950 (AF never even offered to mirror it) but unfortunately the nitrous has to be removed off the Puma.

Future plans are unknown regarding what I'm going to do with the WON kit I have - just glad I didn't get a new heater and have my wideband kit fitted.

Gutted as I'm really going to miss the N2O!!! :tard: .......but having a lot of fun in the new Rex!!!! :yes:

Its that time of year again, but this time its sooooooo much different.
Adrian Flux no longer has the monopoly and I have taken great delight from it.
Graham Sykes = £886
AF = £880 then dropped to £805
Greenlight = £799
but the winner by far is SWINTON @ £675 :yes:

Well done to Trevor & Vivienne (my faster half)

If you look in Trevs book you will see a Red Capri. Thats my mate Tony Cooper.
We have Dan at Flux as a member over on the V8 forum.

Hres a comment from Tony to Dan from a few months back

I was with Adrian Flux for years with my stock capri's and then with my v8 capri, then my insurance jumped £300 due to a roll cage being fitted,
after many questions and no real reasons why etc,
So i changed companies, have been with the current insurance company for must be 10+ yrs take a few years here and there, they have been real great to me over the years, (Graham sykes insurance).
But every year i get a quote from AF and your always £300+ dearer than anyone else.
and yet again this year you could not get any where close to my current insurer even after the increase in my premium with them for the extra cover due to my nitrous oxide system.

I've been with HIC (Herts Insurance Consultants) for many years and before that Greenlight.

Never had a problem with Greenlight but they just couldn't do an agreed valuation so had to change and have been with HIC for many many years.

Good quotes, I mean the ShitRocket is around £170 with an agreed value of around £5000. :yes:

However i was gobsmacked that adding Nitrous to the car would only increase it by £26! :omgrofl:

So well pleased! :bow:

Edit:

Have to agree that I've always tried Adrian Flux and they can't compete at all, always too expensive!
And yet I can't remember if they bought HIC or HIC bought them, yet they're always miles out!

Every now and again some ill informed Flux employee comes out with that statement (possibly because they worked elsewhere with that arrangement and/or Flux didn't include it in their training) and the answer is to;
1) Try again and ask to speak to a supervisor, saying that you're indisputably informed that Flux have an arrangement with WON, that Flux will offer cover to WON customers for road use, that has been running for close to TEN years.
2) Try one of the other insurers that have been mentioned on our forum.

Flux have now come back to him with an offer, but they will not cover the nitrous for road use. They also confirmed they don't cover it for track use, and when questioned they agreed that what they're doing is offering to charge £900 for a standard car with a bottle in the back seeing as they insist the nitrous is disconnected when on the road. Pointless really!

Hi :)

Mine is insured with Flux..including road and track use...

You REALLY have to talk to someone there who actually KNOWS about the WON deal....

Then they WILL insure it for road Nitrous use....

All the best Brett :)

It's that time of year again.....

AF renewal has gone up £130
Greenlight won't give me a quote, their reason:
Quote:
After referral to Underwriters we identified the main reason that Greenlight have been unable to assist you directly on this occasion to be as follows:

Unspecified
Yep, clear as mud...
Now just awaiting to hear back from Swinton as they're online system couldn't quote me and Graham Sykes so we shall see.

Thanks for all your work in getting more companies involved Trevor and Vivienne :yes:

Thought i'd drag this up again as it's that time again :tard:

Renewal came through from HIC

Fully Comp
No Claims, No Convictions, 13 Years Protected No Claims Bonus

£265.21 with Protected No Claims :(

Excess £250
Windscreen Excess £90
Windscreen Repair £20

However if I don't protect my No Claims it drops to

£179 with £350 Excess

Anywhere else I can try?

Just feel that's a lot, well £265 is, just seems to keep going up!

Really!

Doh!

Oh well, I better renew it with the Protected NCB, don't really want to take a gamble without protecting it!

Trevor,
Is it possible to get a written statement from WON on the safety features of the systems ? This way I can push it to the underwrites of USAA and hopefully have them do the same.

By all means but it took us THREE YEARS of REPEATED PUSHING, to achieve this HISTORIC change in insurance companies attitudes towards nitrous, so don't expect that to be a quick & easy job.
Before I decided to set about changing the situation here, if you so much as 'thought' about nitrous while talking to an insurer, they'd refuse ABSOLUTE.

AF quoted me £1500 for the year so my kit is not going to be fitted this year :(
The reason I was told was that this car only had 1yrs ncb, so I'll have to see next year. Modded Insurance without NOS is 'only' £700 with Admiral.

Number 1;
Ask to speak to a senior supervisor with experience of insuring WON nitrous assisted cars

Number 2;
MAKE SURE you mention that it is a WIZARD OF NOS SYSTEM

Number 3;
If they quote you more than £50 to £100 more, the person you are dealing with DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT, so ask to speak to someone else.

Number 4;
If you continue to have problems, mention that the Wizards of NOS negotiated a special agreement with them some 10 years ago and that many of our customers have obtained REASONABLE priced cover as a consequence, so any unreasonable quote IS WRONG.

Number 5;
If that all fails contact Greenlight and repeat the process as needed, except that our arrangement with them was quite as long ago as 10 years.
