I ran some NGK iridium BKR8EIX no.2668 plugs in combination with a 50 hp shot on my old 106 GTI back in the day.
This is one grade harder than the similar no.2667 spark plugs from NGK.

Denso has spark plugs in a similar version. From the top of my head I believe the standard ones are Denso iridium IK22 no. 5310, and one grade harder are the Denso iridium ik 24 no.
5311.

I ran them in combination with a crappy American/diy nitrous kit with megasquirt management with customized fuel and spark maps though.

On my BMW840 the standard Denso plug is a IK20, I now run the colder Iridium IK22 and the engine runs sweet. WON tend to recommend NGK, its just a personal preference in my case to go for Denso.

2667 will be ok for a 50 bhp shot. Anymore than that and the 2668 might be a better choice.
However, I used them both at the 50-60 bhp level on my GTI and couldn`t really find a difference between them. I mixed and matched them several times and upon visual comparison they all seemed to look the same.

I run the Iridium version of the standard plugs for my car with no probs with 50 and 60hp jets...

I have found the Denso's to be excellent.... when i did use 1 grade colder a few months back the car felt just slightly 'duller'....

Regards

Hi :)

Ngk plugs are colder (which is what you want) as the numbers go HIGHER....

So if you normally run a "6" in any type of NGK plug, to go 1 grade colder you want a "7"

As an example . on mine when running Nitrous to start with , I changed from an NGK BPR6ES to a BPR7ES...

Now I am on 9`s but thats a different story lol :)

So if yours NORMALLY runs a "bkr6ez" I would go for a "bkr7ez"

If unsure you can always ring NGK`s helpline, I have always found them very helpful...

All the best Brett :)

Don't forget to re-gap by reducing approx 10%-25% depending on load.

I hoping this is covered in the book, im gonna run 25bhp at first then prob stick with 50bhp as a final amount as its my daily driver :)

If I get my mechanic to do 10% for these gains is that considered good enough?

Yep start low, but only test runs will tell and the book explains this too.
What you are compensating for are the additional cylinder pressures that the plugs have to cope with.
