NITROUS OXIDE ( nos / n2o ) advice forum

Heres a bit of an interesting question for you all to chip in hopefully!.

I have a Max Extreme with gear based power maps (counted by TPS movement).

I was thinking, I have a 2-step launch rev limiter (ignition cut type) built into my fuel management which I use when staging for 1/4 mile times. I also need to purge the nitrous system before a run..

If I set 1st gear power on the Extreme to 20% across the board, line up at staging line and hit WOT (launch control active) would the 20% (of 100bhp shot) have a detrimental effect on the engine?. How long would it take to purge 4 meters of AN3 line? (a second, three seconds?).

I normally only stage for a few seconds at WOT, 5500 rpm before launching.

Would kill 2 birds with one stone and I would have full power available for second gear..

I thought the max had some sort of burn out / purge setting??

I only have a FRED controller on the MGB. I do have a purge solenoid fitted as well if I feel the need to use it these days.

Using the Burnout feature is the way to do it and to do it during a burnout or a dummy launch. I used to PRIME each of my 3 stages by dummy launching on each.

My v1 has it try pushing and holding one of the buttons one puts it in standby and one of the others puts it in burnout mode

I can't remember when we introduced the burnout mode but I would expect most V1s to have at least a basic version.

I found Burnout mode in my Max Extreme, do you think I'll do damage by setting it at 20% and holding it on the launch spark limiter (4500 rpm) and purging for a couple of seconds.

Can't do an actual burnout due to being all wheel drive and local track wouldn't be happy with practice launch if I'm in RWYB class..

More worried about priming the fuel line really, it's about a foot in lengh from fuel supply to Pulseoid inlet.

Probably worrying about nothing..

Personally I'd do some very brief dummy launches on the way to the start line, with the Max set in Burnout mode at 20%.

If that doesn't prove to purge the line enough, you could then try your method to follow that.
