I have a cr of 12-1 so the amount of nitrous i can put in is always going to be limited, but the car is used 99% of the time on the road and i don't use the nitrous then any way so it's a compromise i'm happy with.

In general terms for performance on nitrous, is it better to;-

1, run with the highest amount of nitrous i can whilst keeping the mixture and timing correct? (taking around 2 deg out every 50bhp after the first 50, and afr's in the 11's or low 12's)

2, run slightly higher amounts of nitrous but run it richer and /or more timing out to stay away from det?. Or is that just wasting nitrous/fuel and not achieving any extra performance.

Now i've gained access (hacked!) into the ecu and can set the timing anywhere i want, i've now got options to play with, previously i just kept it rich (normaly in the mid 10's afr)....and even richer if it didn't seem 'happy'!.

Ian

Option 2 not only gives you a bigger safety margin but should also produce quicker ET's as a richer mixture results in more torque. If you can lean out the mixture at the top end to a more precise setting (as you could with a REVO), that would also help achieve higher terminals than would be the case when running the safer overall settings.
