Post subject:  Will a Quaife ATB diff improve my 0-60ft
i seem to have a problem with getting off the lne either im slow of the line or i put to much pwer down and spin up.

my best 0-60f time is 2.22 in my fwd citroen AX, onces im out of 1st gear im good and dont think theres any more time n power to be getting out of the engine as think im pushing it on the standard internals as running a 100hp shot in my NA 1.6 engine.

however i do think there can be so time found in my launch would a new quaife atb diff be the answer. also im running soft compound yokohma a048's semi slicks i no its not as good a drag slicks

heres the info on my time
0-60ft - 2.23
330ft - 5.95
1/8th - 8.75 @ 89.0mph
1000ft - 11.15 @ 102.5mph
1/4 - 13.17 @ 109.5mph

realy want to get a 12.9 run without going turbo n forged internals

The answer is yes, but its going to put a lot more strain on the rest of the drivetrain, also your start rpm is more critical to get the correct wheel speed without stalling with all the extra grip.As you say a tyre with more side wall will help.

Just fitted a new TrueTrac in the truck so i'll find out at the weekend just how much my ET improves.

Do you have a progressive controller and if so which one?

Adding a LSD 'might' help but optimum acceleration is achieved by MAINTAINING a 'degree' of wheel spin and a LSD may prevent that (which is why I said 'might'), depending on when and how you use the nitrous system.

The most effective way to achieve improvements in ET's when using WON nitrous, is to have the BEST CONTROLLER to ensure you use as much nitrous as you can from as early as possible in the run.

I agree with the using as mush nitrous as early as you can to. i have a maximiser. but when i used to hit WOT in 1st it just spins up so i dicided to put it on a button in line with the WOT switch so i could activate it after i hit WOT just in 2nd gear but found it hard to do quick gear changes due to the fact the button was on the gear knob.
So now i put the controller on an initial delay of about 0.3 secs so when i hit WOT in first it want cut in till i change to second butstill not the best a was doing loads of runs to find out the best delay but seems ok with the 0.3 delay

2.2 60ft's are ok but 2.0/1.9's are totally possible on semi slicks like you have tho AX's are quite short in wheelbase IIRC which may hinder you a little due to the weight transfer.

As Trev says maximising the amount of gas/power your running at the various stages of the run will help.

Depending on how much an LSD would be for your car I'd suggest a pair of proper drag slicks of a suitable size will help more but as for value for money is depends on you use your car for as well as 1/4 miles.

What start power level are you using?

You might like to consider upgrading to a Max V2, as that will allow you to use lower initial power settings, that will certainly improve ET's.

Whatever you do you will have to spend time optimising the results but that's the best bit of the process of reaching the quickest possible times from your car.
