Use a phenolic spacer between the manifold and the blower, I think they are made of Bakerlite. I have an air/water intercooler between the manifold and blower, I forgot to have the water pump on and the inlet temp at normal running was 200 deg F, then I switched the pump on while driving and it dropped just under 150 deg F. They say 10 deg F cooler is worth 1% hp.
At the end of the day it's excessive cylinder pressures that will kill an engine regardless of what form of power adder you have. That's my unqualified opinion. :)

Have you considered water injection pre blower?

You could also inject methanol instead of water which would give you extra fuel aswell as the added benefit of even cooler temps, or even a mix.

Great info guys!!

Many thanks. lots of stuff to ponder.

Brett!
I'm playing with this engine as its the scrapper :) New one still not built yet.
Re adding extra fuel. I was thinking that this could be done via the DP system when needed?
Its going to be jetted for individual cylinder fuelling and will run at high pressure via the bosch 044 pump system. Obviously I cant ramp it up much until the fuel system is finished and tested. And I wonder how long before I hit the limits of the cylinder head ports if thats a problem??
I'm surprised it hasnt let go already with so many runs done now. ? Its the old case of either wait to race with the new engine or play with the scapper until it goes pop. At least it gives me some track time. I'm at a crossroads with the new engine as I'm not sure whether to build a higher revving engine or one that will give me torque further up the rev range?
The old one peaks out at max torque at just under 3000 rpm. So its hell for leather up to the 1/8th and then she just settles down for the last half.

This! A guy I know in the Honda world makes these & could easily make you one he'd just need a gasket to copy from.

PM me if your interested & I'll pass no his details :)

Sounds good Bill :)

I may need some other small items copied as well..

She's done really well so far. But last week she got a bit out of shape off the line and across the finish line due to worn suspension. My Son was driving as well which isnt good. I was observing his test runs just to look for anything unusual :)

So its going to have the rear springs changed and the front dampers replaced as well. While I'm doing this I think I might try to swap the old lever arm rear dampers for adjustable coil overs. And while all the suspension is being pulled I might as well finish the new engine and get that in for the end of the season. So with a new PB under my belt I'm happy to take 6 weeks out :)
Plus I'm having fun with the front wheel drive turbo as well ;)
