Yes Ted it was a RACE -
Mike with the Jag had been banging on all day how he would beat that Skoda in a straight up race.........
My fastest time this year up until that point was a 15.45 and my Reaction time was consistently 0.1.
Mikes fastest with the Jag was 15.2 but is R/t was consistently 0.5 or slower. So provided I was close to my best I would take him on first to finish - there are lights around the timing boards that light for first to finish and a light on the side of the track showing the driver who has won.
When we raced - My R/t was 0.1 his R/t was 0.7 (being generous) My E/t was 15.1 and his was 15.3 On the RWYB and qualifier runs the Elapsed time starts from when you leave the line not when the lights change so I could have been sat there for 4 seconds my E/T is only the time from start line to finish line. Obviously this is not 'race' timing which is from green to finish.
So not only did I beat him off the lights AND blow him away (First to Finish) - MY E/T was faster than his too. I also ran a PB with a blown head gasket!
However - if the track was another 1/4 mile longer with his higher top speed he would have caught me. My top speed was 88mph his was 92mph
But it ISNT so he LOST!
Now Mike owes me his better halfs Jag as he agreed to race for Pinks! And he wasnt even using his OWN car. His car is a methanol rail but the chassis has a few issues
On the Drag race thing - I roll forward into stage then roll a little further so the top pre-stage lights go out but the stage lights (second row) stay on in order to get a better R/T. This is VERY legal as it is the 2nd row of lights that are important. The Pre Stage are only there to assist with staging. I go as far forward as I dare and I am currently running about 0.02 R/T on a good day. I am working more on my reaction times at the moment as if I can get the fastest of the day I get an additional 5 points in the RWYB Challenge. Much needed for a car running 15's
