EXCELLENT job Perry, glad to see you made it.

We want ALL the details of what you did to finally manage it.

WAIT!!!!

It gets better :)

Today despite the heat she made more progress.

I kept the 150 shot on top of the blowers 13psi, but I tweaked my old FRED to give me 50% start power and dropped the build time from 1.8 seconds to 1.2 seconds and she just lit up. Even with the high air temps... The track was in pretty good shape with the sun giving us a nice warm surface.

I was hoping to improve on the 9.96 to run a 9.89. But it went a little better than expected. 9.81 @ 138mph ??

Could there be a 9.7 in there somewhere??

I'm happy !! :)

The THE LAZIEST start I've ever seen that ended in a 9, so if you can't run a 9.5 AT LEAST, with a strong launch I'd be astonished!!!!!

My thought as well Trev : )

60 foot times have been all high 1'5's or low 1.6's.... When I used to run a 300 shot My 60 foots were all 1.4's. So there is more to come yet :)

I'm just taking it easy for the time being as I'm enjoying having a car to race again

I'm out again next Saturday for the Dragstalgia event when I'll dial in a more agressive launch if the track is ok.

After 2 years oif being stuck in the 10's the last couple of weeks have been like Xmas and my birthday rolled into one :D

We are at Dragstalgia this Saturday.
Going to increase start power to 50% (75hp) and reduce build time from 1.2 to 1 second for the first pass :)

I rebuilt the engine as per my "new engine thread" but then tore it down and fitted new omega's with a lower CR height as I wasnt happy with the Chevy pistons.

CR now approx 7.5:1 and the engine just likes to suck up all I can throw at it. I'm using a crower 50303 cam which lets the engine rev much higher now.

Dominator street special carb works just fine.

She seems happy with 13psi of boost + a 150 shot with only 3 degree's of retard. Dyno time soon, but for the next couple of months I'm leaving it as is and just fiddling with launch settings to get 60 foots back down to 1.4's instead of the high 1.5's and low 1.6's I've been doing this last few months.

Cant see any reason why I should hit the 9.5 or 9.6 area before the end of this season.

But it will be with small adjustments while I log data.

Hopefully this engine will last me until the end of 2014??

Perry

You should NOT need to retard the timing on a BLOWN motor as the timing should already be retarded from NA due to the elevated charge temps putting the engine at risk of detonation. Nitrous MOVES the motor AWAY from detonation by super cooling the charge temp, so you can actually ADVANCE the timing.

This applies to both blown and turbo motors.

There will be a point when that reverses but it will be MILES AWAY from where you are now.

That's worth about 0.2 secs ALONE!!!!!

Solid engine mounts will be ready next tuesday.
That gives me plenty of time to fit them before RWYB on 10th August.

I have the engine steady bars fitted to the front and rear of the nearside cylinder head which I thought was keeping the engine stable. Back in the day i only had a front bar fitted. but I could see from the slo mo's that the engine was twisting so i fitted a rear steady bar as well. At Retro Show my mate fitted a go pro cam to the roof and when i saw the vid i was stunned. I dont see this movement from inside the car. I dont have room to fit an engine plate. So solid mounts it has to be

I'm up on the 18th with a few mates so will have to keep an eye out for you Perry

I'll be in the F hopefully with the controller and DP finally fitted and a mate will be in his TF160 but doubt he'll have his kit fitted by then. Might also be a couple of Honda Jazzs and a Beemer in the mix too :D
