I`ve thought about the max extreme. It has its good points, but the Hondata flashpro offers a few extra features that appeals to me:
-Integrated ecu and nitrous control
The nitrous control will have nothing like as many extremely important features that the Max offers.-Launch control
The last thing you should add to a nitrous car is launch control of the type that ECU provide (cutting engine sparks) and even on cars which have launch control as standard, most people turn it off for nitrous use. Furthermore, the launch control that the Max provides is of such a kind that it doesn't put your engine at risk and although its not closed loop reactive that's a benefit as you can adjust the power delivery to be exactly what's needed pre-emptively.-flatshift
That may be possible with a Max but I'd have to check that out.-traction control
Same issues as launch control and should be switched off when using nitrous.-Live tuning capability
The Max offers closed loop self tuning which is much better than 'live' tuning and it controls the mixture whilst using nitrous whereas it will only be practical to tune the Hondata NA. Cash outlay between the max extreme and flashpro is about the same. Nowadays the flashpro can be mapped with E-tune with excellent results.
No doubt the Hondata is a decent bit of kit and for anything EXCEPT nitrous it's probably fine and it's better than having no progressive but because the Max is such an AMAZING bit of kit, the Hondata will never get close to producing the same results. Not sure however if the flashpro can handle the PWM range of the pulsoids.
It 'may' have limitations in that respect but I don't know of ANY ECU that can drive one pair of our Pulsoids without and external driver, never mind 2 sets and although we can supply you with a suitable driver, it will cost approx. £200. However, the good news is that the Max can drive 2 sets of Pulsoids WITHOUT the external driver, so you'd be saving £200.
That means you'd have a far more nitrous specific, nitrous suitable and nitrous capable control system and be £200 better off.
