Had a disaster yesterday.... car went into garage to have uprated injectors fitted to flow more fuel at top end

The first one came out, and that was it....despite the guy ( who is a brilliant mechanic) using extraction tool s the next injector left the nozzle stuck in the head when it popped out. :beatstick:

So to cut a long story.... head is now off as is half the engine!. I'm trying to positive, Martin ( mechanic) says the engine looks in really good condition, hardly any cylinder wear, or soot build up. So as well as new injectors she is having a new head gasket, glow plugs, cambelt, oil and antifreeze.

My thought was at least I know the head gasket is new with the introduction of nitrous

So much for a simple job....

Car now fixed...£652 later  However the car now really goes! and that's without nitrous... Martin (the mechanic) said to me , " what have you done to that?" He said that he had taken it out on a test drive first thing and it was spinning the wheels in 2nd and the pull of torque in 3rd for such a small car was unbelievable  , praise indeed from a man who's 1968 mustang pulls low 10's in the 1/4 mile.

He said in does smoke well after 3700 rpm.....excellent  bring on the nitrous!

Have you fitted Studs instead of the more standard bolts?

Thats our next mod as the head bolts are stretching under the load!

No it's just had a new ford head gasket and bolts.

A lot of the time modest power increases are fine on standard bolts

All the big power stuff in the US recommends studs to replace the bolts.

We ran some big numbers for a 1.9 diesel at a dyno day recently and the head gasket is leaking because we stretched the bolts! We are just in the process of changing them to studs (which we should have done ages ago)

Don't think I 'll be running more than a 75 hp jet.

Well went to meet Brett today, what a gent. He managed to get 7lbs into my bottle as it wasn't chilled. Should keep me going for a while... ...maybe

Had a few leaks to deal with, mainly just nipping up the joints. And the biggest one as Brett predicted was at the gauge

Have now checked all joints with bottle fully open, and ear to each....no hissing so all good!

Static test tomorrow....

Well today was the day...a few teething problems, when warming the bottle up tp 950 psi 2 of the nylon lines popped off. Luckily easily fixed and didn't loose too much nitrous as I hand my hand on the quick action ball valve while I was building up the pressure.

Tried to undertake the static test....car bogged revs dropped , kept trying to stall????

A quick phone call to the wizards (Anthony) and we came to the conclusion that the injectors were not giving enough fuel... although the car smokes lots under full throttle when moving....on the drive way stationery, it does not smoke when revved hard. The ecu probably knows this and does not inject the same amounts of fuel.

Anyway Anthony said that being a diesel it should be safe to jump to the road test....so armed with 25hp extra I hit the roads.....

 OMG!!!!!! More than fiesta st performance and 65 mpg.....there is a god!

The best bit is there is still black smoke from the exhaust....so it can take more nitrous.
The minimax is brilliant, it starts off quicker than normal and you can feel the surge as the power builds.

Well one happy customer...thank you again wizards.

Been playing with the fiesta tdci with a 50 hp shot...what a laugh in a little car, with the nitrous and other mods i reckon she is pushing 170 ish hp, and she does go, recorded a 0-60 of 7.8 secs, not bad for a car that originally hauled itself to 60 in 12.5 secs. So much more fun to drive, and annoy unsuspecting fools who try to bully you put the way 8) . Just ordered a 65 hp jet as there is still some smoke in the exhaust to burn. Thanks again wizards, and Brett who kindly supplies me the nitrous.
