hello

I was just woundering if the turbo has to deliver more air when nitro is injected.. because my turbo is near maximum!
My thought was that nitro work by adding more air into the burn the turbo do not have to deliver more...?

my limit on boost is 1,5bars, and im boosting on high setting 1,45bars. Low setting 1,0-1,1bars here is smoke on full throtle visible from just looking out the back window were on high it is mutch less!

what setting should i use when using nitro? there is more unburned fuel at low boost setting... if i have 30hp wasted fuel in low maby im only wasting 20hp on high but higher temps because of the turbo?
would i get more torqe providing the nitro with the ekstre fuel rather than getting the boost of the turbo to burn it for me?

Hi :)

No you dont need extra air as Nitrous Oxide contains the EXTRA OXYGEN thats needed, thats where all the extra power comes from, so as long as the static test is completed properly , all will be fine...

If you buy Trevs book, it explains it all, and its a very good read >>>> http://www.noswizard.com/product_desc.php?id=97

All the best Brett :)

Hi Fraguzz
simply you DONT need a bigger turbo if using nitrous to add air. What you do need is more fuel

Dont forget that nitrous is used to burn fuel it is not a fuel itself.

Ah well - now that is the question! It is down to what YOU want.

Lots of people say it HAS to be turbo, lots of people say it HAS to be nitrous.

I personally like nitrous - no waiting for boost and it helps the turbo spool up. Also you get advantage of the charge cooling effect.

Also when its turned off its OFF so it is effectively turning down the power when you dont want/need it.

On the other hand once you have the extra boost then it is always there on tap.

More boost does mean more engine wear and as its always there you will use it. at least with nitrous, once you run out - thats it till you get a refil. I find this quite a good thing!

Sorry Fraguzz - it is something ONLY YOU can answer, but we will try to help with advice if we can!

Okey.
Well i have a boostcontroler so i just wanted to know if i should lower boost wile using nitrous so there would be more diesel to burn with the nitrous.

Or go high boost and burn what ever fuel there is left with the nitrous?

I want maximum power wile on nitrous, after i can turn my boost up if i want.

Hi Fraguzz - my apologies - I need to read more carefully - bin a looooooooong week!

Hmm - tough one.

The only way to give you a good answer on more boost or more nitrous would be to do some testing on a dyno or at the drag strip.

In theory the charge cooling effect of using more nitrous would give better power.
Theory is all well and good but it needs to be backed up by HARD FACTS

with boost down and nitrous is there any smoke you can see? Or is the exhaust clean?

well i know my pulsoids were send the 4 May 2010 and i havnt seen them yet.. have been some problems.. have been on a europe tour without me :-( nothing to do with WON!!

So i dont know if it will smoke or not.. i was hoping to try today but still no parts :-(

and yes.. i think the cooling effect and so on would make more power than turbo boost.. will try! do you notis any boost rise when using nos? when i add more diesel it raises the boost abit..

I get some boost rise - problem is at the moment I dont get time to look! There is definitely more boost showing on the gauge but this is down to putting nitrous in the manifold. There is some effect from the extra exhaust gasses produced on the turbo but mostly the effect is introducing more gas into the intake manifold.

The most noticeable thing is that the nitrous completely eliminates any turbo lag!

Hi Fraguzz,

Sorry to hear your order took an unintentional detour but hope it will be with you soon.

I've no specific experience of which works best (high or low boost) on a TDI but I do have experience of that on petrol engines and best results are achieved with low boost.

Well have tested abit ..
The 50jet has more power than switching to high pressure boost. But i do get a boost by using nos and high boost.. maby im not burning all The diesel with The nos..

Can i expect 25hp off the 50jet ?? Or is 15more realistic.. should i try the 75jet...
Oh it does not rais the boost pressure when using nos but it comes faster.

The problem with diesels is that there is NO WAY of 'predicting' an accurate power increase from adding nitrous.

With a petrol engine I can say something like "Use a 50 nitrous jet with a 20 fuel jet and you should see approx. 20 HP on a NA engine" but that's not possible on a diesel, because the nitrous system has no control over the fuel and because its the fuel that makes the power. :(

The only 'accurate' way to determine how much power its making is on a dyno (or G meter) and the same applies to the effectiveness of fitting bigger jets.

The best thing about nitrous on diesels, is that you can't damage your engine by either making a mistake or adding too much nitrous (unless you also add much too much fuel as well), so you can experiment safely.
