Before I designed, created and fitted this system
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5907&start=0

the first Drag car to have a REVO system fitted was the MG ZR owned by Andy Nichols.

Now this BIG news is rather belated for reasons beyond my control but as the old saying goes; "Better late than never" so here we go!

Andy has just WON his first event (The ESC) and PROCLAIMED; that he couldn’t have done it without the REVO/Max & WON!!!

Andy has been using a WON nitrous system for a good few years now and over that time he's had some hugely successful highs and a good number of lows, due to frequently suffering one problem or another, like;
1) Everything else except nitrous related issues (failures of gearbox, drive shafts, turbo, manifold, wiring, etc. etc.)
2) ECU interfacing with Max Extreme issues, in addition to the occasional and minor nitrous issue, all of which have produced unpredictable results.

Towards the end of last year Andy switched to a Motec ECU and we added the REVO’s to his Pulsoid system.

For the first part of this year he continued to suffer failures unrelated to the nitrous system and even at the start of his last event (The ESC), his car suffered yet another problem in the form of an electrical fire, which caused him to pack up and get ready for home.

Thankfully his son wasn’t prepared to give up so easily and forced Andy to unload the car and fix it.

Some graft later the car was 'fixed', so he raced the car (in an ill prepared form) and still went on to win the event.

Without the REVO/Max nitrous system, Andy reported the car boost fell off drastically on shifts and was only capable of running 11.1 but with the REVO set to eliminate the lag, he ran down to 10.5 secs.

Now this is still short of his best time in the car but all things considered Andy is VERY HAPPY, because this is the first time the NEW COMBINATION (of dramatically different components to his previously successful combination), has been allowed to perform without interference from some unrelated failure.

Andy can now progress from here (as long as nothing else bites him in the arse) and fine tune ALL aspects of his car, so as to deliver it's full potential at last. :yes: :yes:

Hi :)

Why am I not suprised he did so well..lol :)

I am just amazed that so many others are pretending the Revo/Maxx combination is not the ultimate combination and the only way to go......

All the best Brett :)

How true Brett but the weight of evidence is building and will overwhelm all the bullshit merchants soon enough. :yes:

Andy's car is an absolute nutter to watch on track ;)

When he tinkers in the pits and shuts the motor off the huge turbo spools down after the engine stops and sounds like a jet engine slowing down :) :shock:

It's because the turbo is so big that the REVO system is being so beneficial.

A huge turbo is ideal for nitrous assist.

Andy was racing again this weekend and despite winning the semi-final, he was disqualified from further competition due to running TOO FAST!!!!

Safety rules dictate that his car/class needs a chute if it hits 150 mph and that's exactly what Andy's car was the only one to do this weekend.

Despite the bad news in competition, Andy is still VERY HAPPY as he posted a new PB of 10.2 to go with the 150 MPH and that was despite, acting on my advice to shut down the REVO nitrous system half way through the run, to avoid breaking the 150 mph limit and despite this being only the SECOND event, that he hasn't broken a gearbox or something similar, so there's OBVIOUSLY MUCH MORE to come.

Seems like the Revo's allowing folks to deliver not only however much power they want, but also to deliver it in a way the chassis can handle..Talk about having your cake and eating it!! :P

Can wait to read about more stories to come, as different customers get used to their revo systems and get them truly dialled in.

EXACTLY RIGHT & ALL OUR REVO customers are light years away from even getting a handle on the BASICS of the REVO technology, never mind being anywhere near the full potential the systems offer.

Even if a customers was able to dedicate a full race season JUST to optimising the REVO system, they'd probably need at least 2 seasons to get close to maximum performance - THAT'S HOW MUCH POTENTIAL THE REVO OFFERS!!! :yes: :yes:

At 1 minute 30 secs in to the run of the following video Andy Nichols is about to race (red car in far lane) but it doesn't go too well due to a missed shift. However, there is something of particular interest about this run and that is the OUTSTANDING effect of the nitrous activation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-wBOAVxGFk

Anyone care to determine when the system is activated? ;)

Previous post was the wrong video & wrong time.

As I know Andy & was there on Sunday I'll not comment on when his WON kit is activated :)

Andy did his 150mph terminal PB as a RWYB car last thing as did a couple of other guys there.

Really awesome seeing the big hitters in the FWD classes running at one event tho! Shame the Dutch & Swedish cars didn't make it this time.

Bill

Exactly right and for it to be SO OBVIOUS, IS INCREDIBLE!!!!

Consider the following;
1) The further you are in to a run the more the acceleration is fading
2) At such distance vehicle acceleration generally looks to be fading worse than it actually is
3) A turbo generally continues to accelerate longer than most other vehicles, therefore improving on that is 'unusual' to say the least
4) Nitrous is not known for making top end performance and is generally aimed at creating acceleration early in the run

SERIOUSLY IMPRESSIVE STUFF AND THERE'S MUCH MORE TO COME.

I didn't twig about the Fiat I was looking for your MG :beatstick:

Trev Andy was saying something about the nitrous helping the turbo re spool after gear changes too??

I guess it allows Andy to short shift and make use of nitrous torque before the boost comes in eh ??

Yes that was one of the aims but it didn't really go to plan, as the clutch switch that controls the system needed some tweaking and as a consequence the actual operation was much later than it should have been.

We're going to sort that for him over the next week and then we should see that kind of acceleration rate, over the full track. :twisted: :twisted:

That's also on the cards once he has the system functioning EXACTLY as intended. :yes:

We've just been updating Andy's REVO's etc. so I thought I'd post some pics of the new look.

And here's one of him preparing for a run;
