Outstanding news!!!!

Our Finnish Busa customer has just reported, that his performance at a recent event was the HIGHEST SPEED ever achieved over this distance by a nitrous assisted bike AND THERE'S LOADS MORE TO COME, when they race on a longer track and increase the nitrous delivery!!!!!

This is an extract from the customers email report;

In May/June we made our first track tests. After many little problem with Motec sensors we got the bike working very well. The nearest airport is not long enough (about 2km I think..) so our first standing mile tests were on Halli´s airport South Finland. We drove four times with nitrous, first with 35% power level and got 355 kmh (220 mph) terminal speed at mile. The second pull was made increasing nitrous level
to 50% on 4,5 and 6th gears. The end speed was 371kmh (230 mph), which is our personal record! The third pull was made using 55% and 65% power levels and we got 373,77kmh!! After this we didn't get more nitrous flow to get more speed. The reason for this was filter "clogging", and it is now corrected. Our team´s mistake, we know we should not use PTFE tape in any nitrous line fittings but we did ...

Well, this should be already the world record for standing mile nitrous bikes!! We were beating many turbo bikes at same day. Last weekend there was a Turbo bike, which drove 380kmh but we are going to beat this 380kmh record for sure!! We don´t know yet the exact date but maybe after a few weeks, depending on track arrangements. Yesterday we installed my 5lb bottle to inside rear frame, just for thinking our next summer Bonneville trip. That would help us also at standing mile of course.

We haven´t found anyone ever that has run this fast on a nitrous bike, and we are very sure that we will go lot faster!

The following is a link to a Finnish TV program showing an interview about the bike and the record;

http://yle.fi/uutiset/ohjelmat/aamu-tv/ ... oplay=true

If you don't understand the language :omgrofl: just take a look from about 1.20 mins in and 2 mins in for the under tank shots.

For those who'd rather see still shots, here's a couple of those;

For the record, this bike is running a Motec with a Max Extreme and REVO system which is virtually IDENTICAL to the system used on Cecil Towner's bike when it ran the first ever sub 7.1 sec run.

Hi :)

Wow thats amazing... whoever the rider is, he has some balls....

Congratulations to the whole team :)

And WON of course....

It also proves that the Revo system being the ultimate Nitrous control system with a Maxx is as good for high speed runs as it is for quarters, so it doesnt matter if its a 1/4 or a mile or on the road if you want the best and fastest... its REVO/MAXX

I have said this before but its worth repeating, for anyone considering a Revo system, once you have one its a TOTALLY different type of power, stunningly smooth and unlike anything you had before...

All the best Brett :)

Wow! Congratulations!! Great job by the team and rider and it shows the power of WON and Revo! Since I also race in standing mile Land speed racing at Maxton Mile in North Carolina USA I checked the record books from there and indeed the fastest bike on Nitrous was 228.803mph(368.20kmh) by Guy Caputo of Tiger Racing in May 2006....Until Now.
Great job.

Many thanks for your input and for checking the records Jarl. If the record has stood for 5 years that makes the achievement all the more impressive, so many thanks for confirming that for us.

INCREDIBLE NEWS

Keep in mind that every extra ONE MPH increase takes more power than the last.

If like me you thought that setting the world record for the nitrous assisted standing start MILE at 230 mph was a HUGE achievement, then you'll be BLOWN AWAY by what our Finnish customer achieved this weekend.

NOT 235 mph, NOT 240 mph but 242 MPH or 390 KPH for our European readers.

That's approx. SIXTEEN MPH HIGHER than I've seen officially recorded (and over 5 mph higher than an unofficial 'claim'), by anyone using a US brand kit. :twisted: :yes: :twisted: :yes:

It should also be kept in mind that nitrous is not best suited to long distance use (especially to achieve maximum speeds), because the longer the use the more the drop in pressure and the less power is made, which usually results in minimal increases in top speed, despite substantial improvements in ET's.

The current trend to overcome the pressure drop issue is to boost with nitrogen but this customers wasn't doing so and will have no need to do so, thanks to the unique capabilities of the REVO and Max Extreme.

I've only had the result reported to me so far and will post the full report as soon as I get it but till then I'd like to congratulate my customers and his team, for such AN AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT!!!

THE FUTURE IS REVO POWER!!!

Hi Trev :)

Well done and well done to the customer as well :)

I wonder how long it will be before some idiot on Yellowbullet says its not possible or some such bs....

Its an amazing feat and 250 isnt far away :)

All the best Brett :)

It'll be a contest between yellow bullet and 200mph as to which one posts the most stupid responses to it Brett and my bet is that 250 MPH will be achieved at the next attempt, as this is ONLY THEIR SECOND EVENT, so they still have plenty to learn and improve. :yes:

Here's the report which makes the WORLD RECORD speed even more AMAZING!!! :twisted: :twisted:

I hope you enjoy this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL3VY-WS3B0
(choose HD-resolution)

We had some technical problems unrelated to the nitrous system and we made ONLY two standing mile runs for that day!

The first one was 387,52km/h driven by Teemu Tenhula (on the video) The second one was 390,09km/h driven by Jari Määttä. (no camera)

Both of these runs were driven by "fixed levels" because we didn´t get more runs to tune the power levels.

3th gear 46% power level
4th-6th gear 58% power level

I´m afraid we don´t have enough time to drive anymore this summer.
The engine is handling all the power very well and after we get more time to drive we will make the power levels more progressive. There´s no "theoretical" reasons that we can´t get the 400km/h end speeds.

Best regards
Jari

I now have the full event report and the achievement is even more INCREDIBLE than I first appreciated for the following reasons;

1) As stated above, they were limited to JUST TWO good attempts at the record but even on those runs they had problems.
2) The clutch slipped (see data log below) in 4th (mainly), 5th & 6th gears (to a lesser degree).
3) Bottle pressure dropped 250 psi (see data log below) as there wasn't enough heat available from the heater (NOT a WON heater) and they hadn't had time to fit a 2nd bottle.
4) The Max was being used as a 'slave' to the Motec ECU by means of an interface unit, that the customer had made himself. Unfortunately this didn't give the 'refinement/resolution' that was needed, to make full use of the smooth progressive power delivery that the REVO's are capable of and as a consequence the power was delivered in relatively large steps (see data log below).

In addition to these issue, there's still much more power to come, as the nylon pipes were found to be limiting the nitrous flow, so these will be increased in size for next year. By that time he'll have switched to using our latest REVO position sensing system, for closed loop ECU control (which will do away with his crude ECU to Max interface), a new and improved clutch will be fitted and they'll have had the entire winter dyno testing with the aid of an in chamber sensor, to log a whole bunch of VERY useful information, which will be used to optimise results. :twisted: :twisted:

Here's 2 sections of the Motec data logs showing the issues described above;

Image

Anyone want to bet against them hitting 250 + MPH at their next attempt?

Just a shame we'll have to wait at least 6 months for that. :( :(

Hi Steve,

Yes you've got some time to improve your bikes capabilities, so make the most of it. :yes:

Here's some more interesting log info;

Image

This is a log of distance against speed and as you can see, the bikes not accelerated that hard in the early stages of the run. Despite that it was still accelerating (quite hard considering), as it crossed the mile finish line, so even as things were then, there was still a higher MPH to be achieved IF he'd used the REVO power more effectively, even if only in the earlier part of the run. :twisted: :twisted:

i think i would have to fit one of those tiny 4500 psi bottles to keep the pressure up and spray the house down with that thing.. i heard several times in there that engine neeeeeded some more nitrous. dont forget these things have ram air, they DO pressurize the air box and can push more nitrous down the tube than a NA motor without it.

We don't need to boost the nitrous bottle pressure with a REVO, it just compensates for falling pressure by opening further to maintain a CONSTANT 'VOLUME' of nitrous REGARDLESS OF PRESSURE CHANGES. :twisted: 8)

Keep in mind that these were just test runs and that they were only using approx. 60% of the nitrous power level that they had already tested successfully on the dyno, so MUCH better results to come. :) :)

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

After a failed attempt to utilise more of the REVO power last weekend, due to the clutch letting go in 4th, the Team TFM Taxi made another attempt this weekend and this time the clutch held, allowing the bike to utilise more of the additional nitrous power, to record a 'conservative' speed of 398 KPH.

That converts to a MASSIVE 247 MPH.

Although this was not achieved at an official event, the speed measuring equipment used is at least as accurate as that used at top LSR events, so we're confident the results are genuine and comparable to ANY 'official' record.

For those not in the know about this type & class of racing, 250 MPH is 'roughly' the speed achieved by the fastest turbo assisted bikes in this class and just as with Cecil Towner breaking the hold on Pro Street by turbo bikes, these guys are in the process of doing the same in their sport/class. :twisted: :yes:

This is a video of their run and if you look at the text below the video, you'll see the Motec data log recorded a speed of just over 400 KPH but the most impressive factor, is that whatever the top speed was, it was achieved within JUST 1,700m, so not only was the top speed impressive but the acceleration rate was as well;

Just a couple of thoughts to help you appreciate how IMPRESSIVE this achievement really is;

1) Although breaking the turbo grip on Pro Street bike was seriously impressive, it has been done with the help of handicaps on the turbo bikes, something I'd like to see changed in future.

2) In the Standing mile class and LSR classes, there are NO handicaps applied to ANY vehicles.

3) Until I invented the REVO, there was NEVER going to be ANY chance of a nitrous bike beating a turbo bike, over any distance longer than a 1/4 mile, because the UNAVOIDABLE CONTINUOUS drop in bottle pressure, lead to excess richness that killed off power and therefore top speed.

4) Thanks to the REVO, this bike is able to benefit from a sustainable increase in nitrous flow, at such a rate that it can counter the normally unavoidable drop in nitrous flow, that conventional systems suffer from.

5) Thanks to the closed loop interaction with the Motec ECU (due to the unique ECU to REVO interface unit and REVO position sensing systems we've created), the mixture and timing are continually optimised throughout the run.

6) As a consequence of 5 (above), there is NO POINT in the run, when either the mixture or timing is out by more than the smallest amount.

7) Compare the FACT at 6 (above), with the FACT that ALL OTHER nitrous kits NEVER run at optimum;
i) Nitrous delivery
ii) Mixture
iii) Timing

Due to the fact that the nitrous delivery is CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATING, along with the fuel delivery being out of sync to the nitrous delivery (even IF the nitrous delivery could be made to be constant) and the timing being at a fixed setting to cover a range of constantly changing parameters, I'm sure you can now appreciate;
WHY THE WON REVO SYSTEM IS VASTLY SUPERIOR.

:twisted: :twisted:
