Ian Hook has just WON the Street Eliminator class by DESTROYING Colin Lazenby in the first race event this year at the Pod today;

Ian Hook 8.2601/169.82 def. Colin Lazenby 8.7749/167.28 DQ red

Obviously Mr. Lazenby was rattled by Ian's impressive reputation and record for outstanding reaction times, as he pulled a CHERRY. :omgrofl:

Also it looks like Ian managed to sort his earlier chassis set up issues, as this was his quickest time of the weekend.

HUGE CONGRATULATION TO IAN and best wishes for this to be the SECOND year he takes the Street Eliminator Championship.

Hmm??
Well off Ian's pace from last year. But the track was not good this weekend to be honest.
I saw at least 3 cars go into the wall by the 1/8th yesterday!
Any car with decent power was struggling for a clean pass. Ian ran two passes on Sunday that were real scary. For gods sake he was on one wheel at one point in the first 100 feet??
I can only be sure that the reason Ian did not marry the wall was because he has such fast reactions :)

Colins car is a big old tank and it launches hard. But Fatties reaction times do scare a lot of the other guys for sure. All the SE guys know that Ian can pull a 0.00??? reaction time, so I guess they get a bit twitchy on the amber :)

As they say! Despite any previous times. A win is a win. And well done to Ian and Brain for finding the sweet spot on a crappy track. I guess it was a combo of Brains settings and Ian keeping his foot in :)

Well done guys!!

The lucky charm was Ian taking time out to chill on Sunday to forget the pressures of racing so he could get his head together and go to make me and Tricky a nice "odd one out" cuppa coffee :)

Apparently if you only take "one sugar" in the Fat Boys camp you are the odd one out??

:yes: :yes:

It may have been off Ian's pace at the end of last year but;

1) As far as I can tell he was the 2nd quickest in the class this weekend
2) Its still a good start (time wise) to the year considering the conditions & the changes made
3) Although Lazenby's car is a big slab, it's got the MOST EXPENSIVE (by far), the biggest, most powerful and highest spec engine in the class
4) I'd also be very surprised if its not a lot lighter than it appears
5) It can't be any less aerodynamic than the Fat Boy
6) At the end of last season both Lazenby & the Fat Boys launched new combos and the Fat Boys were approx. 0.1 secs slower, so to start the new season by being 0.5 secs quicker is a GREAT start in my book. :yes:

Can't wait to see the Fat Boys build on such a GREAT start.

Not doubting any of the above Trev :)

Colins car seems to have a lot of carbon fibre or comp panels that look like the steel originals. I seem to remember seeing half of Colins nearside rear wing rip off and fly away on a pass last season. The reason Hooky's car is best is because its Black. Just like my MGB :)

I'm sure that's the case Perry. :yes:

None of that surprises me and I bet there's not much difference in weight between the 2 cars and even if there is, I'd be very surprised if the power to weight ratio wasn't at least close if not in Lazenby's favour, having an engine of over 850 CI compared to Ian's modest 650 ish.

The reason Hooky's car is best is because its Black. Just like my MGB :)
That and a million and one other GOOD reasons Perry. :yes:

Fair play.

Over half a second when you are running as quick as 8's is an abolustely huge margin, so I can see why you are so pleased.

Ian Hook has just WON the Street Eliminator class by DESTROYING Steve Pateman in the second race event this year at the Pod today;

Ian Hook 8.6036/169.16 def. Steve Pateman 9.0804/126.64

Obviously track conditions were less than ideal as both cars ran well off their best performances but despite suffering the most extreme wheelie he's ever experienced in an earlier round, Ian was able to produce the winning result when it was needed.

To say I'm happy would be a HUGE understatement and if Ian can keep up his winning ways for at least a few more rounds he's got to be a strong contender for a 2nd championship victory.

HUGE CONGRATULATION TO IAN AND THE FATBOY TEAM.

Just saw this.

Congrats guys! That looks like one heck of a wheelie in the other thread.

As illustrated many times in Formula 1, you don't have to be the fastest to win a championship, you just have to be the most consistent. Keep it rolling!!!

Thanks Steve. Don't think your neighbours were so keen on us though - especially when we were doing some chassis repairs at 11:00pm!!!
Cheers

Hey, don't get too carried away! We were lucky at the weekend. We only won because we f*cked up less than anyone else!! We WILL go faster this year but even the Brain is scratching his head over our current situation of constant wheel spinning. We are at Shakey this weekend and (if the weather is better than the forecast) with two days of qualifying we hope to be getting back towards the seven second zone.

This may be a relatively late start for the year but some cars and classes don't get started until now, so these results are better late than never;

1) A customer by the name of Tim just posted one of the quickest ever timesin the World in an Audi TT in his every day street driven car, with an 11.3 sec run at the Pod this weekend, after having his Max settings 'tweaked' at WON HQ on Friday.

2) Andy Nicolls won his class at the Pod this weekend with a string of 10.3s and only used the smallest squirt possible from the REVO system (just to check it was functioning correctly), so he'll be improving on that at the next event in the expectation of running 9s.

Well done guys. We had hoped to do King of the Street last weekend but a dodgy bus engine means we are grounded for the time being. Really wanted to go to support Lee as I think this kind of event is a great idea but often under-subscribed. With the meeting at Shakey the week before we just had no time to effect repairs.

Shame about missing King of the Street Ian as that's a GREAT title and one YOU deserve to hold.

No doubt you'll be better situated to take that next year though. :yes:

More good news and another great start to 2010 for one of my customers.

At last we have an American high end CAR customer running class record times and doing well in racing with a WON system.

I'm not going to disclose his name or pics of his car just yet but I will do ASAP.

He's in the process of switching from Speedtech to WON and is currently using both on his car at the same time, as he wants to make a smooth transition from one to the other.

He's running in Outlaw 10.5 (one class down from Pro Mod), which he tells me is now capped at 4.6 secs (1/8 mile) and he's just run a string of passes between 4.67 and 4.63 secs. In a recent event he was runner up with an identical time to the winner and only lost on reaction time.

The following is an extract from his recent email where he compares the WON power delivery to that of his Speedtech kit;

"The runs were very smooth on take off. There was no yanking the car off the starting line. And riding the wheelie bars for quite some time is pretty cool too".

I'm sure Ian in particular can relate to the above statement, having made the same transition himself a few years ago. ;)

These results were achieved at his first event recently, so we expect to see him running 4.60s at the next event. :D

Good news for a new customer Trev...There are many 10.5 classes out there right now but those are not bad but he needs .3 to .4 to catch the heavier class of 10.5 and ADRL Outlaw the record is 3.92 198. and Billy Glidden is the fasted nitrous 10.5 car at 4.10....I am happy more peole are coming on board..If he weould like and help I am not far from him i am sure.....Tell him good luck frrom me.....

3.92 is UNREAL Johnny and has to be more impressive than the Pro Mod times considering the tire limitation.

I kind of half expected to hear that there were different classes of 10.5 now but why do you Americans have to complicate things that way!?!?!?!?

As we both know we can only compare apples to apples and so in this customers class and against like competition he's doing better than we've had happen before (you being the only one to have got close before now), so we're very happy with that achievement and it adds to the growing tally of BIG motors that are using our systems and running well, which is contrary to the pathetic statements that my systems are no good for big motors, that the likes of Tubez and Co make - IDIOTS!!!

You've already spoken to this customer and offered him your assistance but back then he wasn't too keen to listen but maybe he will now that he's sorted his other problems and realised the potential of the WON system. ;)
