NITROUS OXIDE ( nos / n2o ) advice forum

Hello,
this is my first post so please be kind.
i have a Bandit 1200 that i've done as much as i can to it.
my next tuning step is Turbocharging or Nitrous. i'm thinking Nitrous is for me.

i've had a good read around the site and i could just do with a few questions answering so here goes.

What else do in need apart from a street blaster 150 kit?
dyna 2000? fuel pump? etc?

a shopping list would be very useful.

You only 'need' a Street Blaster 75 in actual fact but adding a progressive unit would be beneficial and the best value for money with the best capability is a Street Max Extreme but if your budget won't cover that, then a Minimax would be a 2nd best option.

remove my 5º ignition advancer
get a high flow twin outlet fuel tap
get a SB75 kit and Street Max Extreme

sell the V12 car to pay for it.

i'm very excited. it may not happen soon, but it will happen.

I run a similar engine to you in 9.50 bike, a 1216 GSXR

You say you've done just about everything possible you can to it without going nitrous/turbo. This would be a good time to let us know what spec your motor is, as this will determine how much nitrous you can run safely.

You will almost definately need if you havent already got, some dyna coils and decent leads. Depending on how much gas you want to use you may or may not need the retard capability of a dyna 2000. On a stock motor 75BHP would be fine without, but if you've skimmed head etc to raise compression or running a dot head then 50BHP would be more realistic. If you have an ignition advancer, bin it, its no use for either nitrous or turbo.

If motor is stock internally, i wouldnt go much beyond 75BHP with the stock pistons (although i have run 125BHP thru a stock 1127 motor ) if its going to be a dual purpose tool. If its race only, then with forged pistons you could squeeze around a 150 shot down its throat without too much trouble, tho at this point rods will be at their limit also.

You will need a dual output fuel tap such as pingle, the bandit item wont flow enough for any serious use, mine couldnt even keep up with hard normally aspirated use

Trouble free use with either turbo's or nitrous is all in the details. You can expect to be working on the clutch quite a bit too if its stock, the gsxr 11 slabside conversion will handle over 160BHP at the wheel without too much effort or money, or alternatively a lockup will be needed. If you're going to race it only, then i recomend doing both as the coil spring is easier to tune

It's got platinum plugs in (i've seen cooler plugs are the way to go)

other stuff like sprockets and brakes but i'm pleased to say there is nothing anodised on it, anywhere.
it's running around 140-150bhp now.

not too keen on second hand because i have been reading some excellent after sales advise here on the forum but your thoughts on this please?

bit short on injectors goin by pic, then you'd need to have pulsoids serviced at £75 each for lifetime warranty, so may not work out that cheap in long run compared to new

it's been in my head for a long time..turbo...nitrous...turbo...nitrous...turbo.... then one of my students turns up at college with a turbo bandit he's built so that sealed the deal for me. nitrous it is.

no not looked because i don't want to depress myself. i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. but Adrian Flux is a good bet i've heard.

We are ALL doing a lot of work on this subject as AF seem to be holding the monopoly, even though you MUST say you have a WON System..

I must have got a bit too technical about the Torque/BHP subject

hahaha and me! it's a good question that too many people don't know that answer to. i often ask my students to define the relationship between Torque and horsepower. that keeps 'em busy for hours!
